[Softpedia] AMD FX-Series “Vishera” Specifications Found

The FX-4320 is the entry-level CPU, insofar as a quad-core with a clock speed of 4.0 GHz (4.2 GHz Turbo Core) can be considered low-end. Its TDP (thermal design power) is of 95W and the cache memory (L3) is of 4 MB.

The “middle” CPU is called FX-6300 and has six cores. The base clock speed is 3.5 GHz while the Turbo Core frequency can go to 4.1 GHz. The TDP is 95W and the cache is 6 MB.

And, finally, we reach the flagship Vishera FX Piledriver Bulldozer, the 8-core FX-8350, with a stock speed of 4 GHz and a Turbo Core setting of 4.2 GHz.

The cache memory is 8 MB and the TDP is, understandably enough, higher than on the other two: 125W.

Moar cores but will it beat Phenom?

All I want to know is how it will perform clock for clock. How much faster will it be than Bulldozer and how fast compared to Phenom II.

I'm trying to understand why they made the FX63** a 95w instead of say slightly higher. 110-115ish? Maaaaybe 125w.

It has a lower base core speed than either of the others and it's supposed to be in the middle.

have you heard about Opterons? they have up to 16 cores now days, that is if your code can run them all(I dought they do) and they will soon have 20 cores(10 modules) on the new piledriver based Opterons thumb.gif

clock for clock is 15% more efficient and uses less power, as to compared to phenom II? a Piledriver core Trinity APU is beating a Llano Apu(enhanced phenom cores but lacking L3) and clocks much higher than any phenom could ever dream

They still of just stuck with Phenom 2 architecture and just sie shrunk that + small tweaks.

they already did on the Llano cores which are enhanced 32nm stars core found on phenoms(but lacking L3) and guess what? Trinity outperforms Llano while expending less energy, thats a win win for AMD

And? A small process and various tweaks and Trinity is no faster then Phenom 2.

Just imagine how fast Phenom 2 would be given the same die shrink and performance tweaks...
