Possible 8800GT problem

I've been getting a lot of BSOD's lately when playing games like CS:GO and Dota 2. At first, I thought my hard drive was dying, so I replaced it.
I've been trying to narrow down my problems, and now I think it's a graphics card issue.
My graphics card is EVGA 8800gt 512mb.
I've been monitoring my temps using HWMonitor on the GPU and have been getting max temps of 108*C on load. I usually idle around 65-70*C.

So I think this might be causing the BSOD's....

Should I stress test the graphics card to pinpoint the problem? And what good stress testing programs should I use (3DMark 05? 06? Furmark?)

That looks to be about 10-15C too hot.

Be sure your case has proper cooling. You should also clean the card out of dust as that's most likely the main culprit with overheating video cards that have worked thus far.

Old card-- when was the last time you took the heat sink off and cleaned it up?

I did that after having the same card for a few years, and pulled a crapload of dust out. Between that and some new TIM, I dropped temps by no kidding 30 C

I would take the card apart blow it out and put new thermal paste on it. That's a very old card and really should be taken apart and cleaned properly.

Yes it has been a while since I've taken the card apart and cleaned it. I've just been using compressed air to clean it but I guess that's not doing the job.

Thanks everyone, will have a look at it tomorrow morning. Hopefully it lowers down the temps and no more BSOD's occur after that...
