Hi, i have a question for GIGABYTE Z77X-UD5H owners.

I have this motherboard and I have been using the intel HD graphics on the I7-3770k Quad-Core 3.5GHz LGA 1155 chip just fine. I just bought the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 TI Windforce 2x OC GV-N66TOC-2 graphics card and when I put it into the PCIex16 slot and powered up the computer, no picture appeared on my monitor - I have it connected via HDMI. When I disconnect the cable from the graphics card and connect it to the motherboard's HDMI port, I get a picture and I see that the computer successfully booted up into my 64bit Win7. The 'Init Display First' is set to Auto and Internal Graphics set to Auto. I know the card works because I put it in my older Gigabyte GA-EX58-DS4 board and it works just fine. I put my older BFG Geforce GTX 260 in the Z77X PCIex16 slot and it works just fine. I have the F12 bios installed. I've spend 20 hours researching this problem and I'm turning to all of you for help - Gigabyte was no help. Thanks ahead of time.

I don't have that exact motherboard, but try setting 'Init Display First' to the PCIEx16 slot, and turning internal graphics off. Auto doesn't always work the way it's supposed to.

I have the same motherboard and it should honestly show some display when inserted in the first PCIe x16 slot. Is it the same result with the second PCIe slot?

Change your bios (mostly to f8) and see if it displays anything or not.

Change the BIOS settings from auto to a manual setting. Might fix it. It worked fine for me when I get my PC up.

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and tried the suggestion of setting the 'Init Display' from auto to PEG and disabling the onchip video - that didn't work. I then tried updating my bios to F14 and that didn't work - although there were a lot more settings in the bios that I stayed away from since I didn't know what they did. I then tried the suggestion of moving my card into the PCIe8 slot and that did the trick. The bios displayed even with the 'init display' set to auto and the onchip video set to auto. I was then able to boot into my Win7 64 O.S. install the latest Nvidia display driver for my card, reboot, and my resolution was correctly set to my monitor's 1080p. Thanks Ali Man for the suggestion. Now, I still need to figure out why my card will not display in the PCIe16 slot. With my expensive card in the PCIe8 slot, I'm not fully utilizing the card. If there's something wrong with my motherboard or video card, I need to find it out quickly so I can replace it before the warranty runs out. Now that I know that the PCIe8 slot works, then that leads me to still believe it is a bios setting or something on the motherboard preventing the video signal from going to the PCIe16 slot. Although, as I stated in my initial post, my old BFG card works just fine in the PCIe16 slot. So, if you have any more suggestions, please let me know. Thank you.

Does your 260 work fine in the first slot?

Can you try that GPU in another board?

Yes, my 260 card works fine in the PCIx16, first, slot. I put the 660Ti, new graphics card, in the PCIx16 slot of my backup computer, Gigabyte motherboard GA-EX58-DS4, and it works perfectly. This is what is maddening about this. I've also started to see posts at other websites about people reporting the same problem with this graphic card and motherboard combination. For some, putting it in the second PCIx8 slot works with only one person reporting that it didn't. Nobody has offered up a solution for them either.

Those incompatibilities sometimes happen, and I can't explain why. On my old nforce 780i board, my original EVGA GTX 460 worked fine, but the RMA replacement couldn't output any video signal, but worked just fine for SLI. On UD5H it works just fine.

You will have to work with Gigabyte on that one since both cards are Gigabyte made. Ask them to test that exact card with UD5H. Otherwise, just exchange your GPU to different make/model if it's not too late already.
