1st Build Ever - Need quick advice ~$1200

Thread Starter
CM HAF 922 - $100
Asrock Z77 Extreme4 - $135
Gigabyte 7950 - $330
Corsair TX650 - $90
3570k - $230 / 190 at Microcenter
Samsung 8GB ddr3 - $47
Samsung 830 256Gb - $200
Hyper 212 Evo - $35

/ 1125 total.

Should I get a gigabyte 670 for $400?
Maybe different case?
I can go h60-h100 bc I want to OC preferably to 4.6-4.7/
Any final advice, as I can stretch my budget a bit if it is worth it.. can i eventually SLI 7950s or 670s on a 650w.. with an oc?
Thanks in advance

Can any one reccomend a good set of fans to add to this build or a case that would save me some cash?

CM HAF XM over the 922, trust me on this. With a nice H80. Turns out beautiful.

The rest is fine, good job doing your homework. thumb.gif

You should be able to run/OC dual 7950s on that 650, yes. They decided that a 650 should only have 2 PCI-e power connectors, so no. Get a TX750 instead, that'll have 4.

Fans: see below.

I was able to pick up the XM for $109 at MicroCenter, plus their CPU/MB deals. It is worth going there for these if you can.

HAF XM: $109
3570k: $190
Z77 Extreme4: $135

CM Megaflow x2: $46
TX750 v2: $110
Samsung 2x4GB: $47
Samsung 830 256GB $200 (dunno where you found that deal)
Corsair H80: $102
Gigabyte HD 7950: $330

Total: $1269. But I don't think that takes MicroCenter's CPU/MB combo deal into consideration (in-store only), you get a $20 MIR with the 7950, and you don't really need to get the fans. When you put on the H80, you'll get a 140mm off the back you can put on the door for the gpu.

I would suggest the ANTEC 302 cabinet for USD 60. supports 12.5 inch graphics cards. so that gives you a lot of space while installing 11.5 inch cards. I have the ANTEC 200 V2 and I am very happy with the case.

Also for the graphics card I would suggest the Sapphire HD 7950 Vapor-X. comes with a custom HD 7970 PCB with 8 pin and 6 pin power. 8 phase power design, DUAL BIOS, vapor-x cooler. this card is built for overclocking.

About the about HD 7950 cards overclocked in CF I would say get the Seasonic 850w . comes with a 5 yr warranty.
