Is Halo 1 or 2 Still dead?

Thread Starter
I have a question, I know They shut down the servers but is there a Mod for the game or some type of service like the MW2 (Free Version).
How do I put this without breaking rules, Is there a service, that someone created to play Halo 1 or 2 under there server? I have been looking all over the web.
I am trying to see if there is anyone else trying to play out there. Maybe even a Modified version of it with a different name?
Thanks in Advance.

Once a game is dead it pretty much stays dead. I doubt there are many people on if there is a way, it doesn't seem worth the effort.

I Know that people still LAN the same (fair amount of people still play it LAN), but webservers can break the rules, and be extremely underpopulated.

Halo 1 you can still play over the internet using xbconnect, I believe Halo 2 can be played this way as well, you need a pc though.

It essentially works by tricking your xbox into thinking you're doing a local lan game but the xbconnect software is doing sort of a port forward and you can connect with other players using xbconnect.

I just did this last year to play with some long distance friends using Halo 1, it was awesome biggrin.gif

It doesn't take all that much to setup, maybe 10-20 minutes tops, no special configuration on the xbox that I can recall.

I miss these games, even Halo 3. It was just pure fun. Halo 2 on XBL started my whole online experience. At least with XBL.
