So to my dismay Micro Center stopped doing the i5 2500k bundle... so I was forced to go with the 3570k bundle when assembling my build.
I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to get a good overclock, and I had been looking forward to potentially pushing 5+ GHZ on the 2500k with this Water 2.0 Extreme cooler.
So I got everything put together, and low and behold my Ivy Bridge 3570k was a bad overclocker......
How bad you might dare to ask...? Well it hits 4.2 on stock volts like many
To hit 4.5 a voltage of 1.32+ is necessary.
My maximum stable overclock ended up to be 4.8 GHZ at 1.48V. This results in a peak temperature of 88C on the hottest core, and 88C package temperature.
If you ask me those are some pretty good temperatures for a boxed liquid cooler and some extreme voltage for an Ivy Bridge CPU.
