H100 Questions

Thread Starter
I'm reading stuff around trying to figure out if this setup will work.

H100 for 600T and Asus Sabertooth Z77 with 4x GT AP-15 (1850) push/pull setup.

1. Will 2x 25mm AP-15 fit under the radiator?

2. Can the H100 fan controller handle 4x AP-15?

3. After connecting H100's fan controller to motherboard, will I be able to auto adjust according to temp using Asus Thermal Radar or from BIOS?
1. The fans will have to be outside the case because of the big mosfet heatsink on the sabertooth.
2. Yes but will not fit in the case with that motherboard.
3. Not sure.

1) Depends on VRM clearance on your motherboard, once everything is installed in your case.

2) Yes, in fact the H100 w/AP15s is a popular configuration.

3) The H100's fan controller doesn't plug in anywhere. The only 3-pin plug from the H100 is from the pump, to output the pump RPM to the motherboard. The fan controller on the H100 works by the button in the middle of the block, to allow you to switch between low, medium and high fan speed profiles. If you want to auto-adjust the fans based on load from the BIOS, a PWM splitter coming from your board to the four fans would be best (only if your fans are PWM).

So I would have to stick with 2 fans setup above the grill. Then should this be pull or push?

You mean PWM fans as in fans with 4 pin connector?
Perhaps that's why my NH-D14 is always running at 100% because it's only 3 pin?
I was thinking of switching from NH-D14, currently OCed to 4500 mhz i7-3770k 30C~ on idle and was peaking to 80-82C during Prime95.

I also would like to hear opinions if this is worth switching, for temperature and noise level.

The PWM fans are 4-pin, yes. The H100 has four fan connectors, each connector is 4-pin. The H100 accepts 4-pin fans only for compatibility, not because it uses PWM to control the fans. Unless your 3-pin fan from your D14 is being controlled by power variation, it will run at full speed.

1a. no.. only 2 fans above the radiator under the mesh.. you lack 5-7mm for push/pull
2a. the H100 fan controller only will control the H100 fans. plugging other fans in the H100
controller will only power the fans at 100%. most will run the fans on a sperate controller or
the molex and adapters.
3a. the single wire from the controller is a pump rpm signal to the CPU_FAN header to
monitor pump rpm.

the H100 does not use PWM function on OE fan control.. the fans are not 4-pin, they are
3-pin. internally of the controller it might function as PWM.. but the fans are still voltage
controlled. ive got eight OE corsair fans and they are all 3-pin..

only using the corsair link you can monitor and change fan profiles of different fans..
the pump runs 100% continuosly.

just a side note, the NH-D14 SE2011 has P14 PWM and P12 PWM for fan header control.
the NF-P14 PWM is not for sale by itself at this time.

Thanks for the replies.

So with AP-15 I can either use the h100 controller or connect to a controller panel.
As I said previously, I am using NH-D14 currently OCed to 4500 mhz i7-3770k 30C~ on idle and was peaking to 80-82C during Prime95. I would like an insight if this is worth switching to H100.

plugging the AP15 into the H100 controller gets you only 100% fan speed no control at all.
from my testing with an i5-2550k 4.8 1.39vcore
dropped 5° (push - performance setting)
dropped 8° (push/pull - performance setting) over using a NH-D14.
if id had started with the H100.. it'd be a very good value. if starting with the D14 and then
buying the H100 is it a better deal? no, not unless you sell your D14 for good cash.
if you are buying the H100 for a liquid-cooling experience, yes it is a good starting place.
if you are looking to go custom loop, eventually.. do not buy the H100 and start gather the
custom parts.. the H100 drain in cash can buy some neat stuff.

It seems like with my mobo I can only do push or pull with fans above the grill in 600T. Do you recommend push setup with fan next to I/O as exhaust?
