Well I mean, comfortable temps?
But beside that point, do you think I'd have to OC at all on either of those CPU's?
Or which should I go with for that matter? Also, I changed to the Gigabyte 970A-UD3 Mobo, so yeah.

And I'd also like to point out that with the prices I'm looking at right now, I can only afford to spend MAYBE 10 more.. I'm not too sure but I'm already a little over my "limit" so yeah..

You don't HAVE to OC any cpu. 3.1ghz+ is fast. You're not going to be doing much Ocing with a stock fan and heatsink though. And this may sound somewhat silly but do you already have...

Mouse and Keyboard
Monitor
Speakers (if not on the monitor)
Ethernet cable long enough to reach ethernet slot. Or a wireless card and modem.

Ontop of that, and I'm quite sure you haven't so I'm mentioning this. Have you ever put together a computer or SEEN what a computer looks like when built together? Now don't get me wrong, this stuff doesn't take long to learn, I was on the same boat as you are about 2 months ago. I learned quickly what you'll need to get things to where you want them. I didn't think I'd have to buy a new motherboard, take my entire computer apart and rebuild it. I've never taken stock fan plates off. The only experience I had with a computer previously was when I took apart my laptop to install a new cpu. I had hours of trouble figuring out why it didn't work, only to find out I needed to update the BIOS. Things like that are SIMPLE to me now, as I've gone through things like that.

Overclocking is a whole new beast and I'm honestly still learning about it right now. I'm having issues myself doing overclocks, my computer reacts strangely and I have no idea why it does. I'm hoping to find out. Either way, know what you're getting yourself into. Start reading up on everything you need to know right now, and save up money until you can get what you know you'll be happy with. Believe me, I know you're excited about getting a computer up and running as soon as possible. But if you wait and get what you can't afford right now, you'll be much happier.

Well see, while I understand what you're saying.. I know exactly what you mean and yes, I have.. but never really put it together myself?
To be honest, the only problems I see me having is connecting all the cords to the right sockets.. haha sad but true, and ontop of that I can't really "wait" because if I could I would.. believe me haha, but it's a gift of sorts? And, if I don't get it friday then chances are I won't get it at all.. :S

Soo.. yeah but then, what would you get if you were me in my case then? The FX or 965 BE?
Also, yes. I already have everything else I need. Including a copy of W7 64bit ready to be installed lol.

I get ya. I was able to piece mine together because I had an idea of what goes where on my old mobo. Be sure everything is seated properly before you try turning on your computer. You can damage parts that aren't seated properly and that's never fun.

As for the CPU, I'll admit I'm no expert on cpus. I've been using AMD parts for years and they've always served me well. I'm running an FX 8120 and I love it. The FX series runs pretty damn hot, so overclocking is tough without good cooling. But they overclock very well. Whatever choice you make you're going to have a rig that'll run damn well. No worries there!

it is wrong to say he doesnt have to overclock any cpu when he plans on buying an amd and playing the games he is AND using a 660ti. he needs something he can crank the crap out of to get as many frames as he can get on that 660ti.

*edit* and dont forget a good cooler. youre going to need the best you can afford for 4 ghz on the phenom2 and even moreso on the bulldozer to push it as fast as it will go

Is there any specific reason why you haven't chosen Intel, if you're planning to build a gaming rig?

probably a budget issue. i wouldnt buy the 660 either. i would go for a 7870 or swing 7950 if possible.. a 7950 is only $340 with shipping from newegg

Well if hes gonna play Borderlands 2 I doubt he wants to pay 100 dollars more for a card without Borderlands.

Exactly. The main reason I'm buying the 660 is for the Borderlands 2 coupon.
Also, the Asus card I'm buying I believe is on par with or better than both the 7870 and 7950 so..
$100 more? Those 660s are $310. A 7950 is $350. Better performance for $40 more or get a free game. Would you be buying a dual core ph2 555 instead if it had a free game?
*edit* actually go to newegg and search the 7950. Less right now. Same price and cheaper with rebates. 1 is even less with free shipping without a rebate. Go with a 7950 and buy the game on a few weeks. You will be happier.
