That aside, when this huge worm boss spawned yesterday in Caledon forest and a bunch of players worked together to beat it, that was classic MMORPG fun thumb.gif

^ this!

That was fun to be running from one side of the town to the other to turn a quest in and see 50 or so player trying to kill a boss, and I just hop in and its just so much fun.

IMO this is a game you play with other people fer sherr

Once you do it and find your own pace this game is loads of fun.

Except exploring, crafting, questing, personal story and PvP are all boring.

And it feels like it isn't you CAN do those things to level, it feels like you HAVE to do all of them or you fall behind (unless you grind events over and over). If I don't 100% an area, craft, and PVP a bit, I fall behind in levels.

Guess the game just doesn't support "my own pace".

I feel you just want to hate on the game instead of admitting the game isn't for you, theres allot of awesome games out there that I'v played and simply didn't played after the 1st hour because it wasn't my type of game, I can however acknowledge that it was a good game, just because you don't like it, doesn't mean its garbage, this game has many flaws, boring is only one of them if you allow it. The thing about this game is that you create your pace and once you find it you won't want to put the game down. You might not like it, you might not even know how to play it, but give credit where credit is due.

I love the game. If you're not one of those WoW freaks, then chances are you'll enjoy it.

It's my first MMO I'm actually putting time into, it's great.
You don't feel any pressure to grind or level, you just explore and find awesome events to participate in with other players in the world while simultaneously doing story missions. The levelling just comes naturally doing those things and you actually feel relaxed just exploring the world coming across new things all the time. Artwork and ambiance is awesome.

The only thing that can be a bit of a grind is gathering crafting materials. But if you just play the game, you will get your materials over time no problem as long as you're not trying to rush to lv 75 crafting.

I'm lv 24 and in a guild with a bunch of mates on a Mumble channel. We are all different levels but will help each other and pop over to each others areas when we need help against a Champion or things like that. Once we're all post lv 30 we will do dungeons together which sound flipping awesome from the descriptions I've read about the net!

Once you start unlocking more utility abilities you start to feel like you have some really interesting options to combine (3 at a time for utility but over 30 to choose from). I see great opportunity for changing your set up for PvE, PvP, WvW and dungeons. Weapon abilities on the other hand seem a litttttle limited.

I think the crafting is great too. Took me 2 whole days to actually get it. Most people are bum rushing armour and weapons which will over saturate the market. Food and consumables don't appear that exciting but once more PvP and dungeon events kick off the market value of time based consumables will explode!

Great game for those who aren't hardcore WoW players, I say this simply because I'm not a WoW player. What seems really stupid is a lot of my friends in Mumble come from life long (too long) mmo backgrounds and they're sick of all the WoW related questions in GW2. People complaining why can't they a b or c simply because they could in WoW. No idea what they're talking about of course they sound like the CoD players of FPS haha. (yes I'm purposely stirring a pot at this point).

Whether or not a game is bad is subjective. I thought that was a given. But yes I do want to hate on the game, it's one of the biggest and most disappointing sell-outs I've seen.

I guess I just didn't find my pace in any of the beta events or my current level 45 character. Oh well.

I don't really understand how people think this is a huge departure from other mmos.

It's still got a terrible arbitrary cobbled together story that mostly involves killing everyone you meet, check.
Still involves endlessly grinding away at mobs for loot, check.
Still involves endlessly gathering and recycling items for crafting, check.
Still involves clunky stat based combat, check.
Still tries and fails to find a balance between one monolithic high latency server, and several fragmented instances, check!

Does it have slightly nicer graphics than WoW? Sure, it's also 8 years newer. Older games like AoC still look way cooler.
Does it have no monthly subscription? Sure, neither did GW1 or any of the thousands of F2P mmos.
Does it involve more skill and less level grinding than WoW? Yep, so does every other mmo out there. It's still a lot less than the original GW.

Bigger marketing and a lot of hype, but nothing truly unique or new. It's like an apple advert only OCN is actually buying it.

I'd argue you about this but I really can't say having not played 2 yet. GW1 had 0 of the problems you listed unless you wanted to do it (I know I didn't wanna grind for 7 months to get obby armor.)

I know all about GW. I've probably put more time into that game than anyone else on ocn and I absolutely love it.

But that's entirely unrelated to my point. I'm talking about GW2, which is not in any way shape or form related to the original GW other than the names of some of the locations, and the playable races present in the game.

Yeah I put almost 2k hours into PvP alone in GW1. Loved the hell out of it and would still be playing it if it wasn't so dead these days.
