Adding GPU to my loop. After some advice please

wave2.gif Guys,

I have just got a great deal on a GTX 580 from Ebay and was looking to add this to my current setup, replacing my current graphics card.

The card I won was the EVGA GTX 580 FTW Hydro Copper 2 which I will need to connect to my current watercooling loop. The reason I went for this card was I simply could not find a waterblock anywhere for the KFA2 Anarchy 580 I currently have due to the non reference board it uses.

I am currently using an EK-KIT H3O 360 LTX kit in my system and it seems to do the job fine but I was a bit concerned that my pump and small res will be enough to handle an additional 580 full cover block. Also, due to the shape of the pump/res combo I have limited space as to where I can mount this. I currently have this sitting in front of the graphics card which makes things a bit awkward.

Ideally I wanted to mount the pump underneath to the right of the psu but it does not have the clearance. Could I simply split the res from the pump and purchase a tall res such as the EK-Multioption RES X2 - 150 and mount it up the right hand side of the motherboard? Again, does the pump have enough grunt?

In the future I would like to get another 580 Hydro and SLI but my current setup makes that impossible due to the PCIE socket being restricted. I am going to have to drain my loop to fit the new card anyway so it seemed like an ideal time to re route my setup.

Any advice - products, pumps etc would be greatly appreciated.

One last thing - I know this has been asked a hundred times but what order would be best for adding the card in. I currently have Pump - CPU - Rad - Pump. Where would the card sit best?

Here is a quick photo of my new card as it has now arrived thumb.gif

Thanks.

Loop order is irrelevant, so long as res is before pump. Do what is simplest and most elegant.

What kinda proc are you cooking and how far are you overclocked? You can do both proc and GPU most likely on that lone 360mm rad, but you won't get stunning temps.

Okay thanks. I have a 2600K which is running @ 4.8GHz with 1.4V core. The new card is factory overclocked but not by much so hopefully shouldn't generate too much extra heat.

On my current setup (only cpu watercooled) it barely goes over 60 degrees on long runs of Prime 95.

Well, keep in mind that the GPU will add (around) 225-275W to the loop, while right now you are cooling around 130-150W. That is a significant increase, and I really think that adding a 240 rad would be immensely beneficial.
Also, I don't know anything about the EK kits, but I do know that the Hydrocopper blocks are incredibly restrictive, and I have my doubts that the current pump would be able to handle it.

I would personally get the EK Multioption Res X2 Advanced 150 (in fact, I did get one, they rock) and new pump preferably an MCP35X (got two myself), and you can actually just get a Bitspower rotary male to male coupler fitting and mount the pump directly to the bottom of the res, and finally an inexpensive but exceptionally capable 240 rad such as an XSPC EX240. That setup should be able to handle even 580HC's in SLI.
