Regarding the first Witcher, other than the enhanced edition/directors cut stuff, Polish language pack (if you dont already have it installed) and maybe an SMAA injector, I don't really think the game needs much in the way of modding.
I have considered some combat mods, but most of them break more than they fix, IMO. I would really like a Witcher 2 mod that disables auto/sticky targeting, but haven't seen anything that does this.
