[HELP] Watercooling purchase parts..

Thread Starter
Okay so I'm going to purchase some parts today at microcenter.

Can anyone give me some info as to what is good and what is garbage?

I would like a radiator to fit my switch 810 case (triple or quad rad) but this can work for now.

I currently run a i5 2500k, EVGA 670 4GB Card, any other info you need let me know.

I don't know if this tubing I've selected is good and what fittings and such I need.

I would get the good radiator off the bat. Get a Nexxos UT60 360 or 420 rand and fans. So when you decide to cool your GPU you won't need to buy another rad and have that one sitting around (although you can mount it at the bottom).

I dunno what that pump is, could you link it please?

You'll need fittings (barbs or compression) also. Barbs are cheaper if you have a tight budget. Compressions look better but fill the same function at a hefty price increase.

Well, I can't speak towards the Thermaltake Pump, since I've never even used it and I can't really tell but the word on the grape vine says its pretty mediocre. I've never really been a fan of Thermaltake cooling with the exception of one air cooler since their price doesn't really validate their performance. I think a suitable replacement would be this:
http://www.microcenter.com/product/391769/MCP350_12_VDC_Pump_For_3-8_Tubing

The tubing selection is fine, but you need to check your size. I use the Primochill tubing in my computer but according to the image you posted it won't fit on the pump you selected, much less the pump I suggested so I'm not sure where you are going with that. I'll assume you need this for something other than to match with the pump but let me know if that wasn't the case. (I'm not sure, you might have some spare barbs/compression fittings lying around that are compatible with the tubing you chose)

The XSPC CPU block is fine, although not my favorite but proper application will get you very good temps so thumb.gif. The Swiftech radiator you have selected is not too bad and does a satisfactory job. I used one in a setup for a friend and it does quite well on temps although that is a subjective observation rather than an extensive data review.

I thought I'd link you to a nice CPU block round up here on OCN so you can read about the blocks:
http://www.overclock.net/t/1287684/strens-2012-cpu-water-block-roundup/

Thats all I have time to type up right now, but let me know if this was helpful or not. And is there a reason you are ordering from Micro Center?

Primochill tubing has been having some plasticizer (clouding) issues lately. You might want to reconsider until it's fixed. Most people, including myself, have been using Duralene tubing from Sidewinder Computers.

You can read more about it here:

Is there a company I should order from? I only used microcenter because they are local.

You shouldn't be buying watercooling gear from MC, for one they carry like 5 items and those 5 items are 300% more expensive, lol. I kid but it's not far from the truth.

Check out jab-tech.com, sidewinderscomputers.com, performance-pcs.com, frozencpu.com.

the one in bold is questionable, people on ocn have had good and bad experiences with them.

Right, what he said. And OCN members get a 5% discount from frozencpu.com if I remember correctly. I am pretty partial for xoxide myself, but for the best selection, I would order from performance-pcs.com or frozencpu.com=. I got my Black Ice Rad from frozencpu.com and with the right fans (high static pressure fans) that thing cools like a beast. And you can get the weirdo 200mm Phobya Extreme Rad which I needed for a build there.

EDIT:
I have also heard that some OCN members have had problems with frozencpu.com but I never have and have ordered from them about 4 times and its been fine. If that is a concern, I would go ahead and pick someone like performance-pcs or something.
