Seasonic SS-600ET

Thread Starter
Hi
Is this PSU any good?: Seasonic SS-600ET, I didn't see any reviews so maybe someone here knows something about it.
I am asking because I'm upgrading to 660Ti and my current PSU is old.
Or should I get the Antec HCG-620?
Thanks
It CAN run Crysis

The Antec would be better. 620W is overkill though, you'd have plenty of juice with just the 520W version.

The SS-600ET is good, but the HCG-620 is a more modern, slightly higher-end design. It's also made by SeaSonic by the way.

In my experience, Seasonic cheaped out on the ET series' build quality. Minimum gauge wiring, short cables with no sheathing, and the caps are a bit low end for my liking. The higher wattage models are likely better in this respect, but I'd still take the HCG every time.

Of course it's cheaper, and of course the HCG is superior.

SeaSonic OEM series are designed for use by system builders and the like. Before SeaSonic's increased retail popularity these OEM units actually made up the bulk of their direct sales (obviously not counting ODM business with Corsair, PC P&C, etc.). However, Teapo / OST caps, 18 AWG wires, and short cables do not a bad power supply make. If you're buying retail there are usually better options (like this HCG unit) but the OEM units are still well-designed and well-built. Just not as good as the units they sell to Corsair/Antec/XFX/etc. or the ones sold under S12/M12 or X monickers.

They're not terrible, just not something I would want to put in a gaming\folding rig. If I have to work to a budget to assemble a desktop PC for typical everyday use, then the ET series make sense (though the cabling can still be annoying).

Yup, but I'm not Hewlett Packard so I don't get the bulk discount on them. The ones I do get are often used examples that I put into very low budget systems (~100 bucks or less).
