XSPC 1650 vs AP-15

Thread Starter
I currently have the XSPC fans and need some opinions whether to upgrade to AP-15's or just to keep the XSPC fans?

Would I see any performance difference between the two or just that the AP-15's are quieter?

Thanks thumb.gif

the 1650 rpm fans by xspc are fine I have done testing with both fans. I really didnt see a temp diff. the ap-15 is a tad bit quiter and thats about it.

Would it make a difference with regards to the type of Rad he's using? I use the XSPC 1200RPM and 1650RPM fans on my RX360 and RX240 respectively, however my rads are low FPI, wondering if higher FPI might benefit more from AP-15s? Its my understanding that they have better SP?

Ex rads tend to do better with higher rpm fans. I was using a EX360 rad when I did my testing
RX rad do well with low rpm fans no reason to use high rpm fans it would not be any more beneficial.

if the fan noise is too disturbing, yes change. better cooling performance, not necessarily.
i found the XSPC fans to be really acceptable and compatible as well. the 2000's were
a mixed feeling choice on my GTX240. fine air-draw, but noisey. the Swiftech Helix
were a better (cost less as well) choice even over the ap-15. now the Helix 120 is PWM.
a bonus..

The XSPC is rated at ~29db and the AP-15's at 28db, would there be a noticeable noise difference?

The Helix PWM does look tempting 2.29mmH20 vs. AP-15's 2.01mmH20? But at 33db its too loud frown.gif
post #9 of 17
I honestly don't know how people can tell the difference between 29dB and 33dB, much less 28 vs 29 dB..? I am not flaming anyone, I promise, I just seriously don't know how it is perceptible over the countless other noises coming from a computer and the room its in?

I consider myself quite the audiophile, so I am very familiar with the difference between sound pressure and volume (not to mention the variations between types of sound vs perceived volume), and I don't know of a single instance where the difference of one decibel at such low levels was ever even noticeable to me? I mean, for a home theater PC it may make sense, and for an audio editing workstation it certainly does (although everyone I know, myself included, who does high end audio editing has a way to completely silence the PC), but a gaming rig? I am just trying to understand the reasoning here?
