Kind of expensive at the time but there are numerous options out now that will give you several function keys you can program that can be very useful in a lot of games. I also have a G-5 Logitech mouse that was ok at the time. It has weights in it that you can remove to customize the feel for your use. I found that even taking them all out it was still a bit heavy and cramped my hand until I got used to it.
The xbox 360 style controller is a great universal pad that can be used in a lot of games. I use it for driving games because my desk is too small for a wheel. You can never beat a wheel though as they give you superior control. For shooter games and most MMO's you must get used to a keyboard and mouse combo to be effective. I find that I don't really use my xbox controller too often other than games that require something a mouse just won't do.
You need to decide on what games you will play most often and then choose your control options accordingly. You can spend close to $300 on an awesome Logitech wheel if driving games are your thing. There are side controllers that will give you tons of programmable keys if MMO's and shooters are your thing. Most people just enjoy a decent keyboard and mouse combo. I would recommend going to a few different stores like Best Buy etc. in your area that will have some items on display so you can actually get a feel for them. Come home and read some of the reviews on Newegg and other places before you decide.

I'll be playing mostly first person shooters, and rpgs. I wouldn't spend money on a steering wheel. Especially $300.00. Thats for someone who only plays racing games and really enjoys it. I can do so much more with $300 like make my pc a lot better lol.

I would just stick with a quality keyboard and mouse amd grab the xbox style controller for the odd game that needs one.
keyboard and mouse are much more accurate than a controller, if you can, try to stick with it. If you absolutely need a controller and you already have an xbox you can get something like this...
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Gaming-Receiver-Windows/dp/B000HZFCT2

That is what I used to use, then I realized how much better mouse and keyboard was. doh.gif

The problem is that both my keyboard and mouse are wireless....So at times it lags and that wont work for gaming. Unless I buy myself another mouse and keyboard for gaming but that will be close to another $100 and I just wasted money on my wireless logitechs.

I used a controller for shooters and mmo's about 6 years ago because I was so used to a console. The hard truth was that I had to use the keyboard as well and once I got used to using the mouse there was no turning back, You just can't get the pinpoint control or speed with a controller. Save the wireless keyboard and mouse for either a backup or for building an HTPC later. You can deal with what you have for now and upgrade when you can.

You guys are right. I was actually afraid of sucking with the keyboard but I am growing to love the challenge. I did mess up with a wireless keyboard and mouse though. Sometimes it just freezes on me frown.gif.
I want to take this time to thank everyone who was involved in the process of helping me build this PC.
I would have been lost without you guys.

Everything is working great and the games have been running nothing less but amazing on Ultra quality.
The only issue I saw that I had yesterday is that my USB slots in the front of the case are not reading anything. I'm going to check that out when I get home. Might be that I didn't connect them right to the motherboard.
Once I save up a bit of money I am going to have to change my keyboard and mouse but at least by then I should be good at it for gaming.

Now that I have the whole build set up, the only thing I can ask for is any additionals you guys would recommend for the future to add on to what I already have.

I would double check those USB connections on your m/b. I am not as familiar with your m/b so it may be something as simple like turning on the headers in your bios that may be off by default.

I thought of that as well. I'm gonna check it out when I get home from work. I have a feeling it is the bios because I know I connected everything right.
