DT Direct 2011 waterblock

Thread Starter
This is the next new waterblock from DT Waterblocks, this one is called DT Direct 2011.

The block seals directly to the LGA2011 processor IHS.

That's pretty neat, though I'd never even think about such a thing. Looks waaaayyyy to leak-prone.

I mean, how close are the manufacturing tolerances on the IHSes that you can be assured it will always seal?

i'd laugh my ass off if someone that de-lided their 2011 cpu and tried to use that

i'm not sure there's enough surface area to really make that work all that well, though, if it performs i'll gladly eat my words

The IHS does not come off, it seals directly to the IHS. I've only had leaks when I forgot to install the Oring. biggrin.gif

On my test rig, the 1366 version is better than Sniper with PK-1. We'll have to see how this 2011 version performs, I don't have a 2011 test rig, but I'm using the same geometry as my 1366 version. 1366 version was developed for about 3 months, many many iterations.

Coolio.

Question I can't find an immediate answer to...what is the CPU IHS made of and/or plated with?

Nickel plated copper

I think Intel can keep a part clean before plating rolleyes.gif

Truthfully, I have no idea how well Intel nickel plating will hold up over time. I ran a socket 775 version of a similar concept for about three years, but it was lapped down to the copper.
