[CASE HACK] Safety first...another prodigy build.

Safety First.

Bitfenix Prodigy case

Was going to be a simple watercooled setup. However case having important things on the side of the case, such as power and usb, and not being able to actually fit a 230mm fan and a rad, left me no choice.

Also unlike cooler master or lain li, who I never had a problem purchasing replacement parts, gave me a nice, "we aren't a parts shop" reply, even though they apparently they send out RMA parts.

Only pics. It had to be done to allow the case to breathe, then figured I already had a hole, why not make it stupidly dangerous. 230mm fan with outer frame removed, case panel mods later as well as IO pnel relocation to drive bays

The actual quote was "We don't have a parts shop". If there is a DEFECT with the case, we will replace. Every company has it's own SOP.

Anyways, i'm not a fan expert but when you remove the fan shroud like that i think you will loose a lot of flow at the same time. Maybe it doesn't matter but thought i would let you know smile.gif Nice mod btw! keep those pics comming

now, now if you really want to be a good rep for your company, you sometimes have to take it on the chin, it doesn't aid your credibility for offering good customer service if you say stuff like that, if i were you i'd just post the exact message and let the people here make up their own mind, that way at least you wouldn't come off as condescending, unless you were like that in the email as well, then i kind of get him poking your company. . .

I had my poke, so I wont argue any further on the topic.

The fan is going to be push....and the metal honeycomb on the front of the case will be removed as well.

So it will be swapped from whats in the pic now..(right now its venting out the front without the 230mm)
It will be 230mm push, rad, 230mm pull into the case.

If there is a performance loss due to frame being not there, its not noticeable at the low rpm, running at 7v.

Right now even with just 1 fan, its keeps 3570k@ 4.2 under 65C under load, and vid card under 60 at load.

I'd like your opinion on this. How nicely can we say part shop? We don't have a __. We don't operate a __. We do not have a spare __.
http://www.bitfenix.com/global/en/forums/10,gaming-chassis/751,prodigy-not-desogned-for-230mm-fans-or-200mm-rads/

We hope to have some sort of similar feature in the future, but at the moment it's impossible. Sending RMA parts and operating a part shop are two different procedures.

Edit: Have you tried swapping side panels? USB on the GPU side, perforated on the CPU side?

the point is that bitfenix can't provide parts while others can. IE cooler master, lian li, corsair, silverstone, etc.

saying that your company doesn't have spare parts shop won't going to make anything better, it just made you sounds like an a**.

you could just have easily said that you can't provide what he is asking, as simple as that.

And every company mentioned is 10 years in the making. We're a relatively new company (on our 2nd year). If you are in Taiwan, we can work something out.

Saying that we can't provide him the parts (simple) with no explanation makes matters even worse. If being honest makes me sound like an a**, then i'm quite baffled. Being a rep doesn't mean I can fulfill all the customer's requests.

I don't think offending is the term used to described what happened after this. It's "You might sound like an a** to someone without realizing it" redface.gif

To get to the main concern with the USB, can OP please report back with what happened when you swapped the side panels (keeping all wires still intact)
