PC Gaming Dead? - Page 7

Three words, "First Person Shooters". I always rather play a fps game on the computer rather than console. Only console i would play fps for is the Wii.

Personally, I have been noticing that less games are being released for pc and that really sucks considering the rate at which new video cards are coming out. I enjoy gaming on my pc alot more than consoles and considering how the lates video card (alone) costs almost as much as the latest consoles, there should really be more and better games coming out on pc. Who wants to spend thousands on a pc to do everything and then put another thousand on a console? I stopped buying consoles but I am wondering who will suffer more, game makers or me? probably me

My idea about gaming lately is the fact that creativity has been failing. People aren't getting innovative, they aren't doin anything different. They just keep sticking with the same old formulas, and duping people into buying their product. This is why I'm excited about the Wii- it adds something fresh to the market.

This is a really great thread -- some very interesting discussion is going on here.

I think generally the buzz is that PC game is 'failing' -- mostly because there is a lack of new good pc games coming onto the market. Each year there are really 3 to 4 new games that are truly worth buying and playing. That is kinda sad. The same old RTS games get very boring. Alot of PC Game makers aren't understanding the simple fact that they need to allow their customers to mod the games to create customizable scenarios, maps, quests, etc.... its those games that allow this customization that have flourished. Warcraft 3 for example, and hopefully neverwinter nights 2.

I remember playing those Sierra 'Quest' games back in the day and they were so much fun. Nowadays the focus seems to be on good graphics rather than simple, fun game play. Nowadays I go onto gamespot or some other site and I look for new games that I want to buy and there is a severe paucity of games. I want a good WW2 FPS since return to castle wolfenstein died out -- I haven't been able to find one. MAYBE COD2 would be a good choice but I'll wait for MOH:airborne.

It just seems like more games are coming out for the consoles... COD3 for the console, but nothing in the works for the PC.

I just bought BF2142 and hope its good and they can work out the bugs... I'm cautiously optimistic.

One of the reasons why I like PCs over consoles is the 'workarounds' you can find for in-game problems. They seem to be more 'open' style games to me...
