Do a secure erase then reinstall. Then see if everything is good. The system shouldn't be freezing.

Ahaha, aw cmon Sean, dont give me the easy out of just reinstalling. BTW it is worth mentioning that this was a Fresh install of windows 7 Ult x64 NO sp1 on the install; and Defrag, superfetch, etc were all ON. I had to manually turn them off.

Get SP1 and reinstall! tongue.gif I am busy today and can't think of anything off the top of my head lol. Besides, reinstalling is fun isn't it? biggrin.gif

About as fun as having to leave for work in 40 minutes. Alas, I am downloading from the link you provided; Really dreading the reinstall, but fine.

So you youre saying the system slowing down on that one specfic test is not at all normal right? I might have to RMA in that case.
I think im going to go back to IDE mode, because every since AHCI programs, installers, and firefox will Not Respond for a few seconds, rarely. It happens rarely but happends, and it didnt on IDE

LOL, I need a job myself. I have school that takes up my time.

Install the OS when the SATA mode is set to AHCI, don't bother with IDE at all. The system should not freeze or anything odd when running the benchmark. It could be a simple driver conflict or something simple and stupid. I am not sure, but if it starts happening again after the reinstall then I'll try thinking harder.

Did a Fresh install of w7 ult sp1 (from your link of course); this time installed with AHCI mode. Again for some reason Defrag is enabled stock so not sure if it recognizes as a SSD.
Anyways; here are my numbers now; Seq is ok for sata2 i guess, but how are the other numbers? Some of them were higher with IDE mode redface.gif

so defrag was enabled for the C drive or just the service was just enabled?

Is everything good now? No freezing?

The speeds should get a little better after a day or so if you let the PC idle logged out over night.

Defrag was scheduled for C: drive; thats all I checked. Superfetch is enabled as well.
No freezing/hanging yet but I just did the reinstall; need to test it out with some L4d2 first wink.gif

I dont care abot a 5-10% speed increase as long as the number are in acceptable range right now, and something that's a red flag.

Did you secure erase your drive prior to re-installing? Your random 4K QD64 is extremely low. If you didn't secure erase, then just leave it idling for a while so the controller can do some garbage collection. Hmm, I realize most SandForce SSDs use the extra 8GB (120GB vs 128GB) for RAISE but I'm wondering if the controller could benefit a bit from a slight increase in over provisioning.

Another question, how much free space do you have on the SSD?

did you run Windows experience index before checking defrag and superfetch? superfetch will be set to manual when it is disabled by windows.

And doesn't firmware 5.0.2 have TRIM issues?

FUUUUUUU forgot to do secure erase; but i didnt have much installed anyways before.

Before the reinstall I ran WEI, I havent now but will do right now.
As far as 5.0.2, not sure didnt even know about it; but it is the latest firmware according to Transcend's SSD software

Hmm, you're right. That's probably the reason for the low scores. The SSD isn't recovering from a dirty state. I think there's a tool called AS Cleaner which mimics the effect of TRIM for environments/drives that don't support it. Secure erase is still better if you're willing to re-install but AS Cleaner should work if you're feeling too lazy. Of course, if you have a spare system/drive you could just create an image, secure erase then restore the image.
