1. Opening:
This project is my first personal custom loop build. I have done one other modding and cooling project for a friend named Huskie. It was a dual loop 800D, very fun! The goal for me is to make a clean build with little cable showing. Black Ice will be Black base with all white accents. There will be case mods and major liquid cooling components.

2. Sponsors:

5. Progress - Most Recent Update
Update: 2/15/2013

I have finally got a decent OC at 4.8ghz. Idle temps are 35-33-23-30. Max temps are all ~55-64.

I next plan on starting to do my sleeving and getting the rest of the cables I need (the Sata Cables i ordered are too short)

So there has been some small progress for the project. I found a way to get the best look out of a motherboard cover, its just a matter of designing the cover and choosing the material. I plan on using 3Form and a CNC machine.

I also seem to be making small progress with getting more sponsors. Please if you know anyone, I need all the help I can get!

Today is a small update, still discussing sponsors and I have updated the parts list.

So I don't wan't to say this is entirely my idea as it's been done before, I just never really knew about it... Anyways, I will be creating a full motherboard cover out of White Acetal POM material. Any sponsors who contribute and want their name to be displayed will have the front side engraved with black ink in the groves so it will really stick out of the case. I wish I had a way to show this idea but I cannot start the cutting until I have all the parts to make measurements and precise plans for the CNC machine. I will also be grabbing the white acetal tops for the water blocks. Sadly EK only makes one for the 680 so that means I gotta spend more money on the GPU :/

I am still waiting on my financial aid since I had to buy all my books myself, once that comes in I will be purchasing what I can but I still need all the sponsors I can get smile.gif

Today I finally got a hold of my USPS package which contained two awesome products from Coollaboratory, an innovative company from Germany who is setting new records with their fully metal thermal compound.

So last night I started to tear apart the case to see what modding could be done that I did not know was possible without getting my hands on the case.






So the plan here is to use modding mesh to match the top cover down the middle and I will fit a soft touch fan controller so I can control all of my fans when necessary. I considered just putting them all on PMW but I feel that more cables to the motherboard will just be problematic for me. Any thoughts?

Rather small update, I just didn't want to leave you subs in the dark as to the progress on this project. I would have already purchased the rest of my liquid cooling parts and accessories but I am going to be playing at IPL 5 for the SM wildcard bracket so it set me back a little bit for the moment. I will resume the project on the 15th or so, so keep your eyes peeled because this one is going to be a dosey.

On other great news, I did happen to catch an OCZ Vertex 4 256gb SSD on Black Friday for cheap so that should be arriving shortly.

Today was a day of good and bad. I got my package from FrozenCPU but it brought me bad news. I somehow forgot to put order my Alphacool 80mm rad.... I wont be able to make the purchase until friday but its not a big deal because I still need to order some stuff off of modDIY. I got a little mod work done on the case. So I needed to mod the top since I have decided to not use a fan controller and use a third outake fan on the top. Thus I needed to cut some plastic. I will do all the metal cutting next weekend hopefully.

So I had to redo the brackets since they were forcing the case apart....

TO make things easier...

Spoted a leak after 5 mins of getting the bubbles out... Now I get to refill the loop, yay lol

Success, she lives and she breathes fire! Its actually weird, when I was just switching the system on and off the PMW fans were on their lowest settings If I am correct and once I booted into bios they all ramped up to 100% and it has to be the coolest sound in I've ever heard, its like a whisper straight to a jet like whir. Just these six move a ton of air on lowest RPM and I still have to throw in 4 outlet fans XD

Finally got windows 7 installed. Idle temps are 14 22 17 29. I think the settings aren't running as low as they should on idle. The bus seems to be tweaked as its reporting 100.52 in CPU Z. GPU temp is idle 22c.

Im still in the process of updating all the BIOS and drivers, once its all up to date I will start benching and overclocking. Ill probably have some good results by the end of the day. Wish me luck!
