hey, this board ABIT AW9D-MAX, has intel chipsets yet also comes with an sli bridge...how is that? If this thing can run SLI without Nvidia, sign me up...it is between this, the new eVga board, or an ASUS board with crossfire...No more P5n32...I am going to throw it through the wall. It says on its website that it supports crossfire and sli...

hmm thats weird. says it supports crossfire and SLI. how is that? is nvidia okay with that?

if it really does support both, i want one. i was under the impression that i would never go with dual video card mostly because im then stuck with ATI or NVidia. ABIT rocks if it works that way. lol

OK, the deal is this - it officially supports running either 2 ATi or 2 nVidia gfx cards for multi-monitor setups,
It officially supports running 2 ATi cards in Crossfire.

It will also run 2 nVidia cards in SLI using hacked drivers (afaik they are only 80 series though so don't support the latest & greatest cards).
There's at least 1 review on the net of the AW9D where they run SLI but the domain seems to be banned on this board.
The only thing that prevents you from being able to run Crossfire/SLI on any chipset is gfx driver support as the PCI-E slots are all a standard - the mobos couldn't care less.

it's reckoned to be 1 of the top 975 boards - probably only better is the Asus P5WS64 workstation board that's also a lot dearer.
