Please tell me, what doesn't make it a "real" Massive Multiplayer Online (MMO) game? Aside from dwelling of the technically of your post, it really doesn't even make sense.

The game has it's flaws and things that ANet need to fix (and I have total faith they WILL fix it fast). E.g. you and your party friends getting separated into server overflows zone after zone is pretty game-breaking for some people. The Trade post has also been down most of the time since headstart released, it's pissed off almost everyone who has reached higher levels and wanting to establish themselves in the economy. I suspect ANet are doing this on purpose to stop headstart people skewing the market before the game properly released (/tinfoil hat).

Some people have said PvE is a bit lackluster and Dynamic Events are basically just quests without hand-in and pick-up NPC's. I've still finding them extremely fun to do in groups, they CAN get a bit difficult to do alone - which I welcome, because most MMO's these days are snoozefests where your character is a superhero who can slaughter enemies by the hundreds. In this game even 2-3 mobs can become potentially deadly. Their numbers scale with the number of people involved in the event obviously.

IMO it's a bit silly to expect mind-blowing PvE from a game that prides itself on PvP, it's like complaining about Battlefield 3's campaign and missing the multiplayer.

But everything I have said above are just spots on the balloon of fun that is GW2. Overall I'm extremely happy with my purchase, it's ADDICTIVE and FUN, both things which an MMO needs and my life doesn't tongue.gif

You can almost take all it's flaws and throw them in the bin because the whole thing costs $60 and it's yours to play forever (or atleast until the next expac). How can anyone turn down such a HUGE game which costs $60?

I've spent days just making 1 of every profession to find out what's right for me, exploring the wildly different starting areas, cities, waypoints/vistas and getting accustomed to the game's camera (frustrating at first, but you'll get used to it), the reaction-based playstyle (learn to dodge!) and leveling system.
There is a lot to do and a lot of fun to be had while doing it. Give the game time, learn what it does differently and there's a very good chance it will grow on you. It certainly grew on me and I haven't even played through any of the betas, just dove right in.

To me its just fun to play and looks beautiful. I was pretty much over MMO's and sick of feeling pressured to play just for the sake of justifying the monthly subscription fee. I've got four kids so finding time to even turn the PC on is sometimes impossible, let alone devoting consistent hours into an MMO.

When I play GW2 it feels like the first time I played WoW all those years ago - Fresh and amazing. I just want to keep going until I've seen the entire world, which can take me as long as I like because there is no monthly financial pressure.

I've been playing a ton, just creating and deleting characters to get a feel for the different classes.

The whole dynamic events system is really great for keeping the game fresh and I always get a chance to level up and play with different people. I also really love the party leveling system where toons a lot higher level than you can "downgrade" themselves and play with you for a good experience for them as well.

All in all the game is nicely polished and I'm hoping to see some good support from ArenaNet

Not to mention if you don't like certain areas for their events/whatever, you can go back to a lower-level area and get almost the same amount of XP due to downscaling (mind you, it will be almost be just as difficult to kill mobs because you will be brought down to their level).

But the game does reward exploration so it's in people's best interests to go out there and find-it-all smile.gif

You just can't say no to the countless secret jumping puzzles located around the world:

With an incredibly beautiful world to explore and a game that rewards you for exploring it, I doubt people will stop playing this soon. Besides that the PvP content I have played so far has been AWESOME. No subscription fees. And I like the fact that this game feels much different from any other MMO I have ever played. The formula is getting pretty stale. FFIV tried to mix it up and failed miserably. I think ArenaNet has succeeded. LOVING this game so far.thumb.gif

This is an MMO right? How do they fund their servers without monthly fee's or micro transactions?

It turn out that companies make more than enough money to fund the server. Sub fees are a scam. But that said, they sell some stuff in a cash shop and its almost entirely cosmetic. Cool armor skins and whatnot. The other boosts they sell are available as in-game drops too. I've got a stack of cash shop items just from playing the game so far. And none of them work in PVP at all.
