I meant "bad" if I kept just the SSD in there with no permanent HDD to support it. That would be terrible for the SSD.
Yeah I just found out today that I could do the whole optical drive thing. I don't usually have much use for DVDs.But I have no idea what to search up to find a optical HDD caddy for laptops. I can't find them at all...
I think I found them, but it's like $30
. Would be more expensive than v v v that option.The Mushkin
would be kind of less of a hassle, and it's pretty decent no? Speeds are theoretically faster than my own Crucial M4.Basically, if I want to keep all my goodies,
1. I could get another Crucial M4 for $99 by price match,
Optical HDD adapter for $30 + 10 shipping
External DVD caddy for like $25Total:
$165 + taxCons:
Shipping wait time for the HDD adapter anyways, plus the hassle of replacing everything.
$156.78 (shipping and tax included)
No hassle, only shipping time.
These two options don't differ THAT much,
but I guess it comes down to how good actually is the Mushkin?
Newegg reviews just call it awesome but by speeds I'm not so sure, especially in such a tiny form factor.Edited by BPK - 8/31/12 at 11:44am
