Unable to overclock new ram

Thread Starter
hi well i thought id upgrade my ram from 2x4gb vengeance 1600 to 4x4gb vengeance 1600. Now with the old 8gb kit was able to 1900Mhz with 1.55v and my cpu would hit 5Ghz. Now the only way i can overclock is using XMP which IMO is a lame way to overclock. I know its always harder to overclock 4 sticks of ram but this just seems impossible. Any suggestions on settings welcome. Im using a Asus Sabertooth P67

Don't use XMP. Increase the VCCIO voltage on the processor, basically helps the memory controller and lets you run higher frequency memory or more slots occupied. If you cant do 1900mhz anymore in 4 slots even with more VCCIO, then you're going to have to tone down the frequency and tighten timings. Sometimes with more sticks you might need a small CPU voltage bump too.
