Ivy Bridge chips SUCK under Phase - Page 2

One bad chip does not a pattern make.
Test 30 and then get back to us.

Ultimately though, it sounds like you have bad contact, a bad mount, bad paste, or a bad IHS-core contact.
Especially if your phase unit is running nearly unloaded enough to have floodback.

Hope that helps.

I found the same with a single stage on ivy, good for quick benching with decent clocks, keeping the cpu loaded for a while not as good. The cascade does much better.

And there's your problem, the suction line should not be frosting the compressor, it ideally should stop around an inch before the suction line enters the compressor.

She is over charged and really could do with a re-gas and a tune.

Edit - Also as your evap is not dropping in temperature very much from idle to load it's also very bad heat transfer, needs to have the IHS removed to get the best results.

What version of LD is that? V1 or V2?

You're not suggesting removing the IHS on the 3770K, are you? I definitely would not recommend that after reading on HWBot that after a very short time, pretty much everyone that did it had their chips significantly degraded (6.6GHz+ chips were limited to closer to 6.0GHz).

People on HWBot rape here chips to hell and back, that's why they don't last very long, not because they've had there IHS removed

will! send me that phase unit for a week....my 2500k is gold but air cooling nor water can keep its heat under control....i missed the days when a modded H50 meant 4ghz at 1.35v with 60c loads

This is exactly how I got it from Little Devil. He said it was over gassed and to give the schrader valve a push or two.

It's a V2.

As you can see, I've already tried once and I'm sure it'd help a ton. I can't see how removing the IHS would increase the the degradation of the die.

Could be.

I know what you mean. My 1090T used to hit like 40C max.

Every single person in that thread were all running over 6Ghz on LN2, meaning stupid Vcore ( 1.6v+ ) and the constant heating up and chips that are used under LN2 on a regular basis test tend to last as long either due to the constant heat up and cooling down on the chip.

So while the news in that thread sucks it was too much voltage to use on 22nm in my opinion.
