What size power supply do I need?

Hi

First of all (a bit of topic) I have problems with gaming and I don't see the problem. I bought a new graphic card (AMD Radeon HD 6770) And a new SSD (OCZ Vertex 4) but no real improvement in gaming with high graphics on games (such as Skyrim).

And I thought of buying a new power supply cause I think that may be the source of my problems.
Here are some of my specs:

A Power supply of 450W

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Motherboard: Asus P7H55-M
SSD: OCZ Vertex 4 (265 gb)
HDD: Samsung HD154UI
RAM: 4 gb
Graphic card: AMD Radeon HD 6770

And the other usual stuff like a DVD Drive, a wireless adaptor, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard, and a decent sound system.

Hope you guys know the answer to my performance problems.

Hey,

What was your previous graphics card, what CPU do you have and what's the model name of the PSU?

A reasonable PSU should power that without any issues. As said above, what is the make and model of your PSU, and what GPU did you have. It could be a driver problem, or your upgrade may have been a sidegrade.

I'm not sure what kind of power supply I have but here's a photo.
Further my previous Graphic card was a AMD Radeon HD 5570.
And yes sorry I did forgot my CPU, it's a Intel Core i5 760

And thanks for the fast reply's!

EDIT: I also have a bluescreen sometimes (don't know why).

Are you sure the games didn't just auto-detect and raise their visual settings to match the ability of the new card? Did you try a utility like 3DMark to compare between the two cards?

As long as you're not getting random shut-downs or odd voltage fluctuations (use a multimeter), the PSU is not likely to be the issue.

Yes it did auto-detect and it showed high settings but still it lags for some reason. And no I didn't use that.

Did you completely uninstall and wipe your GPU drivers before you installed the card? If not, that would most likely be part of your problem right there.

AOpen si a bit like Delta, makes a lot of low output units for a lot of big names in the industry, and while they're built to cost as little as possible (and don't particularly shine in performance) they're made to last, they're generally solid and reliable units.... that being said, there's really no way the PSU would slow your software.

Dowload Furmark and Prime95 and run them simultaneously for 30 minutes, if the system doesn't shut down or display weird behavior (freezing, artifacts, etc) then it's not your PSU.
After that download Memtest and test your memory, if again this doesn't prompt any of those blue screens I'd suggest you reintall your OS and all your drivers.
