ASUS M5A88-M Integrated Graphics + Card

Hey guys, mind if I pick your brains for a sec? wink.gif I run a rig with only a 600w supply, Micro ATX board, 8150 Bulldozer, OC'd to about a stabled 4.4ghz with no voltage modification required (gotta love those unlocked CPU's just drive the multiplier up and you're good) and Turbo Core disabled. In addition, I have IGPU Booster disabled and the IGPU is set from the standard 700mhz to 200mhz (I tried i manually suggesting 0 so it is not use it at all, but it requires no less than 200). I also have UMA disabled...everything short of a magical switch to disable the GPU itself. I'm doing this because I've noticed that even while running my 6950, the IGPU gets blazing hot...there's no reason for it, it's not being used! Is there, perhaps, a way that I'm not thinking of to disable this sucker? The only time I use an IGPU is if I am without card. Why would the IGPU be so hot?

I remember my Biostar 790GX doing this back in the day too, card or no.

Off topic but do you have VRM cooling on that board?

The 8150 is a REAL power hog and throttling issues (even with cooling) have been reported on the M5A88-M.

Hmm well now that you bring it to my attention I could probably use Mosfet coolers but there is no vram on my board. The onboard GPU does feature a heatsink but I may replace with better. Makes sense that it would be the CPU too.
