600 series nightmare!!! - Page 3

HOLY MOTHER !!!!!!! I got my second MSI 670 PE in today and WOW....... SAME THING IS HAPPENING AS IN THE VIDEO IN THE OP!!!!!! Really 3 600 series cards have now done this!!!! OMG!!!!!!

The only thing i can think of right now is taking my SSD out of the mix and doing a fresh install of windows on an HDD....

Only other thing i can think of is maybe the realtek HD audio might be making this happen ? I have read in my scouring search for why this is happening that realtek HD audio sometimes conflicts with Nvidia drivers? Although this has never been the case in the past its worth a try....

EDIT: Gonna try the card in my roommates rig and see if the same crap happens....

EDIT: Could it actually MAYBE be the last 2 Asus motherboards that i have had are defective and not the cards?
I dont know....this is really a huge pain.....W T F Kepler!!!!!!!!!!!!

So......the card works on my roommates rig.................So at this point...im guessing its either my SSD or the ASUS board?

He is only running a 500gb HDD WD Black as his storage and boot.

Although he is also using a phenom 2 965 BE and an Asrock 970 Extreme3...

Is it possible to just switch over his HDD on to my intel rig for a quick test ?

Its apparently not the cards it is either the mobo or my SSD?

I am leaning more towards my SSD simply because it is the only piece of hardware besides my 1tb hdd that has moved to this prodigy build that is the same, in the past i was using a Asus M4E.

Please someone weigh in on this so i know my next course of action.

You might get away with swapping the hard drive over as you have an asus formula board, try going in to the uefi bios, go to the boot page and scroll down to boot Over ride and select the hard drive.

The reason i say this is a while ago i change my mobo and windows would not boot which is normal i then did the above step and windows loaded, its worth a try

I've had zero hard crashes with my rig since I got it (~2 months). It definitely sounds like something on your end and it's not something about kepler in general.

Sounds like you have a hard time man. Most likely i would believe it's the SSD or else something has gone wrong with the mobo.
I don't know let us know if you make any progress.

I went to best buy and picked up a new 128gb SSD, on sale for only 110. But first i am going to install windows on my 1tb HDD and see if that solves the problem, if not then i will try the new SSD. I will keep you guys updated. I may try a Binary true wipe using ccleaner on my OCZ ssd as a last resort.

If not then i guess it must be the board...If so then i will return for a full refund and more than likely go with the Asrock micro board instead.

I heard some of OCZ's SSD's got quite a bad reputation. if it's not the hard drive then it's the last and only possibilty.. the mobo
I wish you luck.

Well this ssd has been the only piece of hardware I have not replaced since my first SB build back when SB first launched since then no problems at all, I had used a handful of different 500 series cards without a hitch.

The first time I had this problem was when I was trying out a 680 with my m4e and 2600k, blew my mind when the problems persisted with an entire new build minus the ssd!

Well.....Just finished the windows installation on my 1TB WD Caviar Black and......everything worked fine.....

Looks like it was my OCZ SSD.....It may be because i am not running the latest firmware, although only reason i didnt update to latest is becuase up until this was happening i did not have any problems at all with my rig. This is really weird!!!

Well i have been wanting a bigger ssd for a while, so i guess this is ok....

I will more than likely just do a binary wipe on the SSD and update its firmware and use it for just BF3 or something lol....

I am relieved this ordeal is over...Hopefully.....

Well that was kind of worrying to read, seeing as I have just ordered an EVGA 680. However, I am glad to hear you have it sorted now!
