I'm about to embark on a little experiment for anyone who cares to follow. Being unimpressed with IOPs on my 9211-8i in hardware r0 mode, I decided I would record my findings for the following configurations:

SSD being used for testing is Mushkin Chronos 60GB (~550MB R/W)

The first test will be 2x Chronos on ICH10R RAID 0

The second will be 2x Chronos on LSI 9211-8i RAID 0

The third test will be 2x Chronos on the LSI but using Windows Dynamic Disk RAID 0

I will be using IOMeter as well as ATTO.

ICH10R - ATTO

LSI 9211-8i ATTO

LSI edges out the onboard ICH10R, probably because of 1x PCI-E bottleneck @ ~1GB/s

ICH10R - IOMeter - 8 Workers, 8 Queue Depth, All-In-One Test

LSI 9211-8i IOMeter - 8 Workers, 8 Queue Depth, All-In-One Test

Here, the LSI is behind the ICH10R.

Next, I will perform the same tests on the LSI, except using windows RAID.

LSI 9211-8i - Windows RAID 0 (2x Chronos)
ATTO

IOMeter

The difference is marginal using Windows Dynamic Disk RAID.
