Crossfire questions

Thread Starter
Hey I'm going to be going to dual led monitors and play alot of shooters. Currently have a HD 6870 double d and an fx4100 pcu on a 750 w power supply. I'm looking into going crossfire but I can't find much info on it. Like do I have to pair it with the same card. Would I be better off going to a higher end card and crossfire that. Or just screw it all and go to nvidia and sli. Info and opinions greatly appreciated need any more info on my pc ask. Thank-you

Well you're not going to do eyefinity across just two monitors are you? Your crosshair would be right in the center of the two.

It is best to pair two of the same cards together(6870 with 6870(manufacturer doesn't matter)), but you can do odd combinations.

In the end, I don't see having a second monitor as a reason to upgrade video cards. However, if you are just wanting some more oomph, I would just wait to see if a 6870 shows up as an open box item on newegg and get it as cheap as possible.
