Ordered a wrong case, had some customer service issues, should i hate newegg for this?

my place is just near newegg warehouse so everything that i order from them is for pickup, i want to buy the SG08 but i mistakenly placed an order for a SG07 case with window, i just realized my mistake 2 hours after placing my order, so i called the customer service.

keep in mind that they still have the case, i have not picked it up yet. the price for both case are just the same, 199 dollars.

i explained to them what happened, i asked them if they can just switch my order and just give me an SG08, they said no, i have to RMA the item even though they still have it / i have not picked it up yet, i have to wait 5 days for them to process the RMA, then another 5 days to receive the refund, then i can buy the SG08.

i asked them why can't they just to what i am requesting as it is the fastest way, they said that they can't do that, they gave me the STANDARD POLICY thing.

i am not happy with their response, i mean, they have my money already, and they still have the case, all they have to do is give me the SG08 case, why can't they just do that? what is there to wait for? its not that they have to check the SG07 case and see if i broke it or something is missing.

to finish my story, i just accepted the SG07 case, assembled the PC, and found out that the PSU that came preinstalled in the SG07 is dead, i RMAed it and at the same time placed another order for an SG08, now i'm just waiting for my refund.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? COMMENTS?

Horrible they shoulda at least canceled the order. Instead of RMA. You gotta pay restocking fee?

Better way to have done it: refuse delivery when it attempts to get dropped off. UPS will deliver the case back to Newegg and you will receive a refund in full. Then you could've just ordered your other case. I've done it once before when I ordered the wrong case.

Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com.

Unfortunately, we were unable to fulfill your order cancellation request. Once an order has reached our shipping lines it cannot be cancelled through our online cancellation request system. Note that, while your order status page may not reflect that your order has been shipped, our order status is updated in intervals.

At this stage, if you still don’t want the order, you also have the option of refusing delivery of the package. If you choose to do this, you will receive a full refund (if you are otherwise entitled to it) once we receive and process the return.

Got an email similar to that when I asked about it. When it says "if you are otherwise entitle to it" it just means the return policy on the specific item. Like CPUs have an exchange only policy I believe or something. Cases are fine.

well, if you can just simply refuse the delivery and get a refund, why can't you also just refuse to pick it up and get a refund?

Oh, I guess I skipped over the pickup thing. Yea that is pretty lame. I would've tried live chat or called and got another rep.

You're asking a lot from Newegg to change their shipping and return policy because you ordered the wrong item. For a company as large as them to make one-off exceptions, not follow protocol, etc. for people who ask to make sketchy exchanges like this (even though on a basic level it makes sense, a $200 case is a $200 case) shouldn't be expected. There are lots of factors that might not be obvious to you, the customer, such as stock levels, inventory availability, etc. This is why they have these policies to begin with, to ensure fair service for all customers. For all you know, even though you haven't picked the item up from the Newegg warehouse, it's still marked as "sold" to you.

It's unfortunate that customer service wasn't able to give you the most convenient exchange, in your opinion, but I definitely don't think you should "hate" Newegg for this. That comes off as pretty entitled.

Yea but cancelling an order that hes coming to pick up. The rep on the phone shoulda said ya come here say you dont want it we will cancel the order. Not tell him to RMA it for a result 10 days later

At least that would be the same as refusing delivery which results in a refund not a rma process.

why can't they do an advanced RMA? they already have the payment anyways?

the case that i'm RMAing will be refunded, it's 100% sure and there is no doubt about it.

so why can't they just release an SG08 for me? it's basically paid already, so why not?

they can still process the RMA even if they released an SG08 in advance right?

totally agree, it's kinda ridiculous to hear that i have to RMA the item that's still in their possesion.
