I like Windows 8. I *HATE* Metro.
But I will tell you what I really hate ... I really hate it when people go around saying "If you just use Metro for a x amount of time, you will like it."
That is really annoying and silly. Some people hate broccoli. Telling someone if they just eat 50 pounds of it, they will like it. Sorry, it doesn't work like that. They MAY get to the point were, since they are FORCED to eat 50 pounds of it, just shut up and accept the fact that they HAVE to eat the 50 pounds of broccoli (for what ever reason), but they will NOT "like it".
Metro is a stupid shell that Microsoft is putting on an otherwise good operating system (ie Windows 8) and ramming it down peoples throats because PC sales are falling off and they think that the best thing for them (and maybe they are right) is to break into the smartphone and padd markets. Why they think they need to drag the same OS to the desktop and "make a camel" is beyond me (and many others). Apple doesn't do that with iOS and OSX, nor does any other company out there.
But more to the point, what MAY be a good thing for Microsoft (to allow them to lay off people and simplify things when they have a unified platform for XBox, PC's, smart phones, and padds), ISN'T the best thing for the END USER ... especially DESKTOP USERS.

If you don't like Metro on day one...you will never really like metro. You will just get used to it. Though I am sure it will get to the point when they go to change it again people will be up in arms again.
I think it is ugly and really does a number on the look of your background...the full screen only aspect of it is going to be the only thing that is really going to prevent me from using it. Well, that and finding what icon you want in Metro is like finding a needle in a stack of needles. I'll be starting things from the Run command most likely anyway though. Metro would be great if you only had a few programs installed...like on a phone...but when you have 30-40 applications installed the thing becomes quite useless.
