[VC] NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Will Utilize GK110 GPU - Page 45

So is the GTX 780 going to be a GK110 or a refresh?

That last article saying it wouldn't be and then it will, I'm confused.

Even if the 780 does use the GK110 & is 50% faster than the 680, where are the games that are going utilise this awesome power?
The PS4 & Xbox 720 aren't out until late 2013/early 2014 & until then devs won't be devopling games that really push PC hardware. If you have a 670, 680 or 7970, then you'll be able to max pretty much everything that's coming out until the PS4/720 are released. Meaning you could easily skip the 780 & get the 8xx when that comes out it will be slightly quicker & cooler, quieter & more efficient.

Seriously what kind of social reject would spend over $1000 TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES LOL

So you are saying that rich people are losers? I bet I can guess when someone is jealous, feeling resentment because of another's success. I guess that makes you a winner, huh?

I wrote that post on VC.

The latest info is that GTX 780 would be based on GK114 GPU, and this was confirmed by two sources, whereas none of them is saying GK110 would be installed on next flagship model.
But it's probably too early to determine which rumor is true.

History of the GTX 780 rumors
1. GTX 780 on GK110
2. GTX 780 not on GK110
3. GTX 780 on GK114

The latest info is actually GK110. http://semiaccurate.com/2012/10/15/will-nvidia-make-a-consumer-gk110-card/

Charlie was saying GK114 before but he then changed his mind after that article. Now he's saying that GK110 makes an appearance in the latest GeForce roadmap. 3Dcenter is also hinting at GK110: http://www.3dcenter.org/news/ausblick-auf-nvidias-2013er-kepler-refresh-generation

Only OBR is saying that it's GK114 at this point. And his article had a nice photoshopped photo of GF110.

Nice spin on the facts.

AMD's 25% total market share vs Nvidia's 17% is determined by integrated GPU. That's why Intel is the dominant player with the rest.

Nvidia still holds 60% of the discreet market vs AMD at 40%. The 512bit bus made no real difference.

Doesn't that make you think about the credibility of his articles?

I've seen the first specs of GK114 (can't post them yet) and that's not a mid-range GPU for me.

But still, this is a speculation so I can obviously be wrong.

Depends I guess. If he's actually seeing some roadmaps and GK110 just made an appearance on the newest ones then him changing his mind would make sense. On the other hand Charlie has always been a bit weird. He was pretty much on the spot with fermi and GK104 though...

And yeah everyone is speculating at this point. I've always just thought that it would be the logical thing to do (use GK110) for NV. They're gonna have too leaky chips anyway that can't be used for teslas etc. I also find it hard to believe that they would spend a lot of extra R&D money on GK114 (that should be needed if it's gonna really up the specs compared to GK104) when they have a high end chip ready and they could just improve GK104 a little bit, get a new stepping out and call it a day.
