Can VGA display 1080p?

Thread Starter
I'm getting sick of having to constantly unhook my DVI and audio cable on my monitor to play my 360 (I don't have a dedicated monitor for my 360, just the 22" for my computer)

Is it possible for a VGA cable to display at 1080p (1920x1080). It's not a permanent thing, just until I get a DVI switcher. Should have gotten a monitor that supports HDMI too

Yes, VGA can display up to and over 1920x1080.

There's actually very little to no difference in quality, it's about how the signal is sent/received.

VGA uses an analogue signal, which has to be converted and then sent to the monitor, where as DVI and HDMI are in digital.

In other words, DVI and HDMI are better for faster response times, as well as more features which include per pixel tuning.

It can, but side by side with digital it looks crappy (kind of blurry). Not unusable, but not nearly as sharp as a digital. Also, if you're using a VGA-output GPU, it's likely older and your resolution may be limited by the capabilities of the GPU.

I had to upgrade my machines at work when I went to 1080 monitors. Some of the old machines couldn't do 1080 and the ones that could on VGA it just didnt' look right.

lol I have a GTX560 Ti in my sig rig. I Just need the DVI-D pot for the 360 (if I have to climb behind my desk one more time either I or the desk is breaking)

Now I can just hit the input button and switch between PC and xbox.

And yeah, it's kinda blury, but I'll hopefully have that switch next week.

also.

yJouX.jpg Not bad for a 10 minute redo.

Yes I dont see a problem though I dont have much experience doing that as I have always used different displays for my PC and ps3/xbox 360.
