Put up a new personal best even though I lost power for about an hour last night. I did get to test my UPSes.
My back APC es 350 lasted for less than a minute with about 200 watts on it. Probably needs a new battery
The APC XS 1300 lasted about 5 minutes with 2 fully loaded computers drawing about 770 watts.
My modified Belkin F6c800 with 2 lawnmower batteries lasted the entire time (over an hour) with a fully loaded PC Boincing away. biggrin.gif

I just extended the cables and hooked it to the pair of lawnmower batteries on the top.
Really simple to do and apparently works great.

You can use any type of battery. Just get any 24 Volt UPS and hook up a pair of batteries in series. I used those lawn mower batteries because they were on sale and picking them up locally was cheaper than buying and paying shipping for the actual replacement battery.

The only downside is that the UPS freaks out saying it is overloaded, if I hook up a 2nd computer to it.

If you were more safety minded, you could put the batteries in a battery box, but what fun would that be biggrin.gif
