PSU enough power for new build?

Thread Starter
Hi all

I've just completed a new build and have chosen to use my PSU from my old system.

I've just gone to switch it on a nothing happens, no fans, no motherboard beeps etc. So I unplugged my graphics card and the PC started. But only the fans and sounded like the hard drives also attempted to start. I got no beeps or lights turned on, on the motherboard.

From my stats below do you think the issue is the PSU not supplying enough power?

Thanks.

I've just uploaded a quick vid on YouTube. I've literally stripped it down to bare minimum. CPU, Ram and PSU. You'll see the CPU fan start and then stop. This is all that happens.

The PSU has 2x 4 pin CPU connectors

ok after watching the vid, i would have to say it could be anything. PSU gone bad, bad mobo, bad chip, bad RAM... it's not really even getting into POST so it's hard to say for certain which part is bad. try removing your RAM and see if you get any further then that. right now you are stuck troubleshooting each part individually to isolate the defective part.

as far as amount of power is concerned, 600w is plenty for your system. HOWEVER, that's not to say your PSU couldn't be broken...

I purchased a motherboard, cpu, ram combo from here http://www.scan.co.uk/value-hardware-bundles(Scan VB20i) package. All was tested before shipping. So this leads me to think its the psu.
