Corsair H100 leaked onto my brand new graphics card and motherboard - Page 13

As I mentioned in a previous post it was going to cost me more $$ to send the H100 back to Corsair than it would cost me to purchase a new one. So I put this to Corsair in an email and asked if they would cover the costs of sending it back if the H100 was indeed found to be faulty. After a bunch of follow up emails and days of getting no reply back I PM'd CorsairGeorge again and asked if he could look into it for me. A few hours later I received and email from Corsair's Customer Service Manager which basically apologised for the delays and they also provided a pre-paid shipping label for me to send both the H100 and the graphics card and motherboard over to them. CorsairGeorge is brilliant!! Definitely the best corsair contact to go to if you want to get things done. I wish he was running the company smile.gif
When I was removing the motherboard to pack it up for shipping, I realised that I could remove the heatsink that had coolant in it. So I did that and washed it out and now the motherboard is looking brand new again. It appears that no coolant got on any of the circuitry. So I decided not to try and claim compensation for the motherboard as I think it should work/look good as new now. I shipped off the H100 and the graphics card just this morning.
One thing that does worry me is that on three occasion now I have received emails from Corsair which have included a statement saying that the maximum compensation they will give is:
$150 for a graphics card
$100 for a motherboard
and something else for RAM. Can't remember the exact amount and I don't have it in front of me at the moment.
I will be disappointed if, after all this, I only get $150 for a graphics card which cost me $489 as it will still leave me out of pocket by $339
I don't see why Corsair would risk loosing a life long customer who would have spend much more on Corsair products in future, just to save themselves $339. That amount of money is nothing to them, but it's quite a lot to me.
The reason I was happy to pay a bit extra for Corsair products was because of their excellent reputation for customer support. If they are starting to move away from that approach (and that's the impression I've been getting from these emails) than I can't see why I would buy Corsair products in the future as there are cheaper options that seem just as good, but without the excellent customer service reputation.

I would like Corsair to show me where you can a Gtx 670 for 150$? ill take 4.... rolleyes.gif

Although you have to understand how complicated it is for them as a company if Corsair start replacing hardware (Mobo's, GPU's, RAM ) all the time they will soon be out of business due to the amount of people that would tamper with their products because they know that they are going to get replacement parts for nothing,
And as quickly as this market moves then there would be quite a few people getting free hardware upgrades as well,,,,
I seriously hope they help you out as much as they can, at least you have been honest to the fact that you did not forward your Mobo because it looked like it has not suffered,
All the best

Yes, that's true. I guess it would be hard to distinguish between genuine faults and people deliberately tampering with products in the hope of getting a replacement.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Australians generally do get ripped of with inflated hardware and software prices (there was a recent enquiry into it here) but I would think that even in America it would be hard to find a decent new gpu for $150.

Cheapest gtx 670s are 350$ in America.

Well, I'm building out my first system in a decade, and I couldn't help but be impressed by CorsairGeorge. In spite of the slightly bumpy developments toward the end here, I just tonight picked up an H100 mostly because this thread exists.

It's impressive to see good customer service at work; I do hope everything is made right for you.

that's not right
Looking at the other threads, they should take care of you.

I am building a new system and was thinking of using the H100, and after reading about the support from leaked/etc issues, I will probably go with it! I already have the Carbide 500R case so it is perfect, I use almost exclusively Corsair PSUs and love all the produces I've ever used from them.
I'm in the damage claim submission phase with Corsair right now for a similar problem. I'll confirm the "$150 for video card" statement, its right at the top of the damage claim form I got from Corsair. My two NGTX580's cost $549 each from Newegg less than 1 year ago and are now an out of stock item everywhere I've looked. So even if Corsair offers full price reimbursement I'll be out of luck putting my SLI back together as I had it and this annoys me. Hopefully they will, the least, cover the one damaged card in full + the H100 of course. Basically I'm hoping for a check in the amount of approximately $650. Will I get it? Wish me luck.

As far as recommending the Hydro series, I would say yes but to strongly consider the slim possibility that it can leak and that ultimately it is a gimmick item and no substitute for a true WC solution. But its also a fun alternative to air cooling which is why I bought one for this build.
