Corsair H100 leaked onto my brand new graphics card and motherboard - Page 19

This sucks. Before this thread I had only one memory in my brain which said that corsair will replace all damaged parts if their cooler leaks.
I know they probably changed their policy because it's super easy to fake it and get new(er) parts. Like getting cooler leaked on 470 and getting from corsair newer card because those are discontinued, but that's kinda not your case...
Hope they rethink what they are doing and replace your HW.

The slightest possibility of similar scenario was why I bought D14.

mrpdean,I once left off the xfire fitting between 2 4890's then started my pump up and the water splashed all over my video cards and mobo and down into pws.I ended up frying my pws but manage to save my cards and mobo at the time,so I feel your pain.

*Ouch! Have to say this didn't end as i hoped!! Figured they would pony up and cover the FULL cost being as it was their product that was faulty and killed your GPU! As mentioned what if this had happened to someone's dual 690 QuadSLI rig and they give you $150!!! Product was faulty so full payment for damages i would think! The SSD is a nice offer but what if you have/don't want one but would rather have the GPU the faulty cooler destroyed.

Bought my H50 on the strength of "if it leaks we replace damaged parts" Turns out that's not true anymore (well upto a point!). Was thinking about purchasing a H80 in the future to push this X6 (think it's still got "legs" yet LMAO!). Kinda loosing a bit of faith imho! I love Corsair stuff BECAUSE they stand by their products so when i read they now only replace "upto certain amounts" that says to me "we don't have faith in our products to last/be free of defects".

Shame......... Making me doubt Corsair for future watercooler purchases (come on guys REALLY you make some good stuff have faith in it SO WE DO!).

Thanx.

Yes, that was certainly the view of most people when I started this thread. Most people who commented at the start of the thread thought for certain I would get full compensation. I was blown away by peoples passion for Corsairs customer service reputation. Corsair have most certainly benefited financially from that reputation over the years and rightly so, which is why I don't understand why they would mess with that. I suspect this change in policy might cost them more in lost sales than is saves them in paying compensation. I agree that preventing fake claims would be an issue for them. Maybe they could use some sort of tamper proofing or at least tamper detection mechanism? I'm sure it's a lot easier said than done though.

That is my fear with custom cooling. It only takes one momentary loss of concentration for disaster to strike ohno-smiley.gif Keep you on your toes though I guess. Glad to hear that all but your PWS was saved though.

I'm still staggered Corsair George hasn't come back to respond in this thread. Didn't he say they "would make it right for you" early in the thread? $150 and a $100 SSD for a 670 isn't really "making it right" in my opinion...

^ This. I mean if they're only gonna give him $150 for the GPU might as well off set cost with a 240GB if not a 480 which at least is the actual cost of a 670 mad.gif

Honestly TC don't accept the offer and try to at least ask for a 240GB SDD, if this doesn't get resolved right I might have to stop recommending their WC products to people who want closed loops.

If you notice at the start of this thread pretty much everyone universally said Corsair will take care of it becuase of the brand and past history of RMA service everyone has received from them, if this is no longer the case maybe it's time to stop holding them in such high regards.

Good luck man, I hope it all goes well. Also have them send back the GPU see if you can salvage it if they're only willing to give you a stupid sum of $150 for it. mad.gif

He did indeed say that. I guess "making it right" is a subjective term. I doubt that CorsairGeorge is calling the shots in terms of their compensation policy. I imaging that its some senior executives who make these decisions.. probably use Mac rolleyes.gif Or course, I have nothing to base that on. just a hunch. I'm not sure if he's watching this thread and I haven't PM'd him again as I've contacted him a few times already throughout the RMA process and he was always helpful in terms of getting the RMA process moving. Of course, you shouldn't have to go through forums to get good customer service, but just emailing them never seemed to get me anywhere.
