Heck to the NO! High-end HSF cost less and offer similar if not better performance than these closed loop water kits minus the risk of leakage thumb.gif

Only you can decide that I'm afraid. Depends on how much you care about the aesthetics I think. I personally don't like the look of giant air cooling towers in my case. Even despite my shaky start into the water cooling world, I still prefer it. If you go with a clc statically speaking I think you are far more likely to not have any problems with it, than to get a leaky one like I did. Don't hold me to that if something does go wrong through redface.gif

Should I?

stick to air cooling or go custom watercooling.

The logical myopia you present in your reasoning is astonishing. This guy's cooler leaked, do you realize how many people use h100 or other CLC loops with absolutely no problems at all? Including myself. With after market fans on my h100 I don't even break 55C under game load at 1.35V@4.8ghz, usually it's in the low, mid 40's. The cooler is good for what it is and its price point. Custom loops are better and the highest end air coolers can compete but that doesn't make the h100 bad, let's be realistic here.

I am planning on doing a custom loop this christmas for my rig, but the H100 has served me reliably for over 4 months now, while providing excellent temps.

Stuff happens, products occasionally are defective, if you have been building computers long enough you will eventually get a DOA or defective part. This same logic can be applied to pretty much anything.

CLC loops are quite nice for users who don't want to take up the task of doing a custom loop. I still will always say custom is the way to go. Even if you just start with a CPU and do the GPU's later. I wish I would have realized this when I built my PC.

He's correct in no longer trusting and wanting to use something when the backbone of his reasoning to buy something is broken. While you're absolutely right that you get BETTER temps on H100 with nice fans than high end cooling, the main reason to go closed loop was the piece of mind in Corsair's policy and extremely low risk in leaking with temps coming in as third place.

Most are fine with Air temps and don't want to risk going water, Corsair offered the best of both worlds with low risk, great temps while still giving an amazing warranty. The warranty is what eliminates the doubts and dismisses the risks of buying their loops and made us recommend them to all the people we build rigs for.

Stuff happens is correct, unfortunately we used to think Corsair's policy was "Our stuff brakes your stuff, we pay for it" now that is has changed some will have to weigh the risk reward factor in closed loops vs high end air vs custom WC.

Like I said I won't be building anymore rigs with their WC kits and will go air for all of my builds for people, this is because of the risk reward factor and the WC risk far outweigh the reward.
