@ OP it is not recommended to use old RAM kit for the x79.

I concur.

Since when did a 5850 use 250W?

try 158W

I think we should stay on topic to help jasjeet.

Have you check the Qualified Vendor List, to see if your memory kit is there

http://rog.asus.com/motherboard/extreme/rampage-iv-extreme-battlefield-3/

PCIE Spread spectrum should be Disabled

Try to mess with VCCSA voltage to check for stability

How do enable PLL Overvolt? Is that a Motherboard Jumper or a Bios Setting, if so what voltage to try?

Also surprisingly my Ram is on the QVL: Crucial BL25664BN1337.16FF(XMP), im running 3 of these (3x2Gb) 1333MHz.

PLL overvolt is the CPU PLL voltage

Should stay between 1.8 and 2.0v on x79. Stay below 1.95v and you are fine. Some user have had good results with PLL lowered to 1.35v. Leaving it at AUTO is not a bad idea.

Have you read Raja Guide?

Any other suggestions are welcome though.

I'd try less LLC, and more vcore, if necessary. I generally like to see at least a little droop under load.

Enable PLL overvoltage, and max out any current limiters.

I wouldn't imagine you'd need to mess with VTT or SA voltage with only 6GiB DDR3-1333, but with the IMC at 4.6 you may need a bump anyway. I'd play with these after ruling out other options.

He isn't any where near the limits of his PSU. He has enough to run 11 threads of Linpack or Prime along with FurMark, at the same time, while leaving ~100 watts to spare.

A 4.6GHz 3960x with ~1.4v may indeed push near 200-250w under maximum load, but that's where your accuracy ends.

The board is ~30w, or less, under load.

All the fans and cooling in that system are probably ~30w total.

His memory is maybe ~10w total.

The GPU is likely idle during Prime95 and consuming less than 25w. Even at full load it's likely in the ballpark of 200w.

I have a feeling you maybe right about LLC, the way i ran LLC on X58 was to still have a tiny amount of Vdroop under load, this ensured the CPU always had enough Vcore under lesser load conditions. Current LLC setting has a small VRise.

Is there any issues running 1.41v through the chip as a daily OC? Load will be a lot less of course and very little Current/Power usage in normal daily conditions.
