Basically that was my response to a post about hopping being continued in the new Conter Strike GO. The hopping or pogo stick maneuver that is so prevalent these days in most games of this type,i.e. Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 etc etc to me takes the fun out of the game in my opinion and being older than most gamers it pretty much stands to reason I 'spose, think old fart, I get more of a bang out of working together and having a semblance of cohesion and unity in gaming with others in these sorts. To be honest the closest I've seen without having communications is the Black Ops Training deathmatch set up where even though it is tough to work as a single unit most that play I have seen do seem to cover each others back and some what stick together during play which to me is far better than chasing pogo sticks around. The good news with this new edition is the mic does work so that answers that question, most others require TeamSpeak. True the move is good for corners or situations that call for it but the continuous mode is a bit much. Maybe there should be a " hoppers '' server so they can have it til their hearts content. Anyway I do think as others have pointed out that there should be a ' limit ' of sorts to balance it out. This thread was started more or less to touch base and get opinions and it seems to be working towards that and thank you all for your thoughts.

Except that.... there is no 'bunny hopping' in COD or BF3. And there isn't a bunny hopping issue in CS:GO either.

When people jump to avoid being hit by bullets this does not mean they are inherently bunny hopping. They are trying to induce (whether they realize it or not) extra frames (or exploiting hit registration by jumping) required for hit boxes to be targeted correctly, especially in the case of CS and definitely COD.

So... while you may not like it, it is a 'tactic' (so to speak) by players (especially experienced players who can exploit an advantage or benefit by doing so) to gain the upper hand in a given situation.

Well I reluctantly agree it is a tactic but believe me when I say going to servers or game sites on line and trying to join a game not knowing anyone and getting aclimatized so to speak I have seen a prevalence of nothing but hopping around. People who have ' mastered ' this maneuver use it continously to the point of that is all you see..everybody hop skipping around the whole blame time. To me its like music or any other thing people enjoy, either you like it or change the station so to speak. It has become a predominate feature whether it is Bioshock or whatever game that requires shooting to advance, continue or score. I know you know what I am getting at. You go to a site thinking oh boy lets have fun sneaking around and being careful and what not then you look up and here come the pogo sticks and brother I mean everybody is on 'em..ok so I just join another game hoping against hope that it won't be the same and sure enough it pretty much is the same thing all over again...boing boing boing. More people get off on that and I suppose it is because everybody is doing it so it's either get along or get it get it wrong. It would for a change be nice to go to a game that limited this maneuver just for the sake of lets say like Crysis or Red Orchestra, etal, games that if you do something like run or whatever it drains your player to the point where you HAVE to take a rest or time out from it. That is my premise on the matter, you know, not the whole time. I realize it is a way to 'beat the system' and all, sorta takes away from the whole idea of the games especially war games but thats just me, Mr Old School. I do a lot of combat flight sims and you have people who will take " screen shots'' if they think you are closing in on 'em just to lag your system and sadly it goes on and on with people trying to beat the system so they can win no matter what. Sadly today if you can figure out a way to tweak something it is accepted as long as a) you don't get caught (think steroids in sports) or b) people put up a howl to stop it. Hey don't get me wrong there's always good ideas out there to help things along but geeze man enough is enough not to be a spoil sport it's more like lets get back to what it is all about to start with forking out dough to have a little fun on line ...and lets don't go down that road with aimbots and all that mess. Just my opinion no great shakes but c'mon man.

That was kind of hard to read. Try using paragraphs next time.

Anyways, I disagree completely. Counterstrike has had hundreds of patches, if Valve thought something was wrong with bunny hopping, they would have patched it. That goes for any game that has had a decent number of patches.

Bunny hopping isn't that big of a nuisance, not nearly as annoying as dolphin divers...

I am totally guilty of jumping to avoid getting killed in BF3, especially if it's jumping into cover like a corner or behind a wall.

I feel the opposite. While it can get really annoying, "hitting the deck" would easily be something you would do in a real life fighting situation, but you wouldn't ever see a soldier jumping around like a moron while shooting someone. But to each his own rolleyes.gif

I think if you are jumping for the sake of getting to cover, that is a perfectly acceptable tactical maneuver. But if you're sitting out in the open and jumping like a dang pogo stick, that's when it just gets ridiculous.

If its in the game duh! you need to use it. Well, if it gives you an advantage but not an OP advantage. If it truly is OP like in comparison to the USAS in BF3 then I won't use it. but I have yet to see a game where BH was truly OP. I bunny hop in games where they let me for the obvious reason of prolonging my life. But in games where there is no BH I don't really care. If its there I use it if its not i don't care.

I never got why people threw tantrums and cried about bunny hopping. It's like dude, do you want me to just be immobile so YOU can kill me? When I have the option of hopping out of your line of fire? Guess which one im gonna take.... Also i never got how people could say stuff like IRL soldiers don't hop around like chickens. Because its not RL, its a game! And yea in games where bunny hopping is available the devs can simply nerf it but if they choose not to and you still complain about it then I think you either need to:

a. find a no BH server
b. bunny hop
c. don't bunny hop and stop complaining
d. play another game or wait and see if they nerf it

As simple as that.
