Alternative to Zowie EC1 eVo White?

Thread Starter
My Zowie EC1 non-evo starting double clicking on me with both clickers so I bought a EC1 eVo black as a replacement. I absolutely cannot stand the rubber used on the sides. My hands don't sweat enough to grip it at all. I was wondering if there was a mouse with low lift off and a "flawless" sensor that someone could recommend until the eVo White is available in the U.S. I heard they wont be available till the end of September?

Or maybe you have some tips on how to deal with the rubber sides?

Also - Anyone ever sent a mouse back to newegg before or is that weird?

By low lift off do you mean that you want the mouse not to track at all when it's off the surface?

The Razer Deathadder is a good choice; the sensor is pretty good, and it tracks fine on most surfaces; it won't track more than 1 CM off the surface.

I'd say that the RAT 7 is the best sensor I have used; except for some minor z-axis issues, it seems to track the best. It also won't track at all more than 5mm off the surface.

Edit: ignore everything I've said about the RAT 7 sensor, it has started giving me a lot of jittering problems.

the deathadder might do what he wants, if he does the tape fix, but 1.2mm liftoff and almost 1cm liftoff is not even anywhere near.

iirc the RAT 7 has a ADNS 9700 sensor?

It's a Phillips twin eye sensor. It is a good sensor, though it is somewhat picky about what it will track well on, and it jitters slightly when you pick it up.

PTE is why I don't use my mamba anymore, plus I'm a cloth user so it's useless unless you like a hard pad.

Death adder black edition, the lift off is pretty high compared to other mice but it has a perfect sensor which is important for gaming. I prefer to use black surfaces like QCK or hayabusa pads but currently I am using the puretrak talent and it tracks wonderfully.

If you don't liek rubberized mice, then get the normal Death Adder 3.5g. It has a similar sensor and can be tape-fixed. It also has plasticy sides for easier grip for dry hands. Ergonomically it is almost exactly the same as the EVO except for a little bump in the center of the mouse to be more ergonomic. This makes the mouse slightly harder to fingertouch grip but more comfortable while palming.

The Death Adder BE usually only a slightly different rubberized surface from the EC1/2 line of mice ... not sure why you are recommending it to him when he complained about the rubber sides of his EC1.

DO NOT get any phillips twin-eye mice. They are terrible.

Death Adder is the closest thing to the EC1.

I don't understand why people dont want to experiment with multiple surfaces to lower lift off distance. Can't recommend the tape method, but if it works it works.

Not really a fan of zowies method~

This is probably the smartest thing for me to do for now. I already have a new DA that I barely used because of the liftoff. The tape trick doesn't do anything weird to the sensor?
