Help! 3 way SLI z77 with RAID 0 SSD Trim Support (RST 11.2+)! - Page 2

The only thing that makes me nervous is how the test system performed on only 3 monitors. Test system was a 3rd workstation with same spec's as the 2 HUD workstations. An i5-2500k @ 4.3Ghz, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD and two 560ti's. Worked great on two monitors, when I plugged the 3rd monitor into the second card it looked HORRIBLE. I did all the necessary pop and swapping to make sure it wasn't hardware and / or power related. Admittedly this could be b/c of the PCI 2.0 but I am thinking out loud here so to speak. If only monitor on PCI 2.0 causes issues @ 8x, won't two monitors on PCI 3.0 @ 8x still be an issue (doubling display requirement brings it back to the same issue from the way I am looking at it)?

On your test rig monitor GPU and CPU usage,

if GPUs are at 100% and CPU at less than 100% then you are fine.
If GPUs are at less than 100% and CPU is 100% then you have a CPU bottleneck
If GPUs and CPUs are at less than 100% usage you bottleneck is somewhere else, most likely in PCI-E bandwith.

Hope that clears it up slightly smile.gif

That is cause they dont exists there is only one board caple of doing true pcie 3.0 x16 tri sli and thats a asus z9pe with 2 xeons as far i know the other boards would fall back to x8/x8/x8 like allready said or even mix pcie 2.0 in exept the board comes with another Pcie 3.0 controller chip.

And those boards costs loads and so do the cpus ^^.

If i had to choose a z77 board i would go for this.

4*pcie 3.0 @ x8 speed.

I was looking at this Asus Rampage IV Extreme 2011 as I see it does 16x , 16x, 8x in 3 way SLI. Issue here is the z79 chipset not supporting RAID 0. I am torn between a 1155 board / cpu / chipset and 2011 .....

This is the one I am currently looking at for z77:

Asus Maximus V Extreme
