Hi Everyone,

I wanted to share my results with my i72600K. I've had this chip now for over a year I think and have been running an "auto" overclock of 4.2 on a Hyper 212+ Push/Pull. Today I decided to actually tweak the OC and bring temperatures and voltage down. Well, I think I have succeeded and would like to hear your comments, suggestions and general thoughts on this.

Here goes:

I decided to OC with the offset option on my P8Z68-V since I want to keep speedstep and all the power-saving options. (Who needs 5Ghz when just surfing the web right?). This, in combination with load line calibration settings, proved to be quite interesting.
At first I wanted to check what my max OC would be with the brilliant but cheap 212+. I started off with a multiplier of 44. Temperatures are the maximum measured in RealTemp, stability tests were done in Prime95 (an initial 10min. small FFT to determine short term stability) and all other settings were measured with Cpu-Z.

Result: Pass

* The first check to see what the "Auto" option would give me. 82 is under TJ max but dangerously high in my opinion.

* I think the shutdown BSOD isn't the result of a voltage too low for the Turbo state but rather the Idle state since the - offset reduces Idle voltage as well. clearly - 0.065 is too much and I've reached the limit at the High LLC level.

* again... a minor miscalculation (1.216)

during these 44Multiplier tests I was able to reduce the temperatures with 5 degrees. That's a "minor" improvement in my eyes and did not feel comfortable with these temps. So let's try to go back to my trusty 4.2Ghz but really reduce the volts and temps from the Auto OC!

* great! As Prime95 scenario's aren't really representative for "typical load" I decided to test a game in Battlefield 3. Where before I was seeing temperatures of 65C to 68C, I am not sitting comfortably between 56 and 60. Almost 10 degrees less! and -0.040 less voltage. Impressive? I don't know... But it feels good to have tweaked it and get a glimpse of what my chip can do (If ever seriously cooled).
