$500 or under laptop recommendation

Thread Starter
My coworker is looking for a new laptop to replace his dell. I'm sure there are plenty of posts similar but were working ATM and can't look at them all. He is looking for a system with around 500gb, 4gb ram, either AMD or intel is fine. Would prefer a 17" but 15" works too. It will mainly be used for viewing pictures and movies (some porn) and will be doing minor business book keeping.

Lol about porn. That really changes things biggrin.gif

I got a samsung laptop for 400 but I wouldnt recommend it because the screen sucks for watching "movies".
Your best bet is probably just to go in an look around, not a lot of difference really, the all use pretty much the same hardware

If he wants to do any gaming the AMD laptops with A-series processors are probably better than Intel HD integrated graphics, if not, the Intels are typically faster for everthing else.

No gaming will be done.
My xp from HP, is that they tend to fail after a year. This is going back a few years but between myself and friends HP and compaq never really hold up.

Besides that, that laptop specs look nice.

Nothing overly special about it though. I would go to a computer retailer and just pick the one that looks best. Prices are pretty competetive but hardware is mostly the same.

Try to find something with an i5. I agree about HP, not the best products. Last few laptops were HP/compaq and they didnt hold up. Might just be the price point though.

Since you mentioned viewing porn, the laptop should have a keyboard skin for spilling drinks and viewing porn.
