Also I won't disagree, Apple do have great marketing skills. And so does Microsoft.

Highly speculated, did you not read the article?

Samsung (005930) will soon go from licking its wounds to licking its chops if Apple’s (AAPL) next iPhone utilizes LTE technology. The Korea Times reports that Samsung has “confirmed that it will immediately sue Apple if the latter releases products using advanced long-term evolution (LTE) mobile technology.”

How much truth this holds, I don't really know. However I was just referring to this scenario coming true.

I meant that the new iPhone is highly speculated to have LTE; not that it's highly speculated that they'll sue.

Yeah and the Macbook Air is just a copy of older 'thin laptops.'
The difference is these products tried and failed, Apple, whether you like them or not, virtually single handedly made these markets viable.
Apple have the ability to make things mainstream, they could put vomit in a bag and somehow make it a lucrative market. Irrespective of their products, they have immense marketing skills.
Presuming Samsung allow them to license the technology...at the same price everyone else pays. Then I would agree that this isn't abusing the patent system.
Obviously, we don't know either way just yet.

I would assume LTE is FRAND so yeah it'll be a fair and reasonable amount. If it's not covered by FRAND standards then Apple are in for a whale of a time.

And no Apple did not make the market for laptops or thin laptops. Technology just progressed naturally towards thinner laptops.

It never made the market for laptops, but it sure did for thin ones.

After the MacBook Air came out, everyone wanted to make something as thin as that(ultrabooks).

I didn't say they made the markets. I said others tried and failed to find success in these markets. I also said Apple pretty much single handedly made these markets lucrative. smile.gif

None of that is a lie.

None of that is a lie.

It can eba rgued for that, or it could be argued that they got cheap enough for everyone to buy. I don't buy this notion that Apple popularised anything other than smartphones and tablets.

Well, Apple are calling for an all out ban on Samsung's stuff.. Samsung's just returning the favor, considering they're planning on suing Apple exclusively.

What's both hilarious/depressing about this is that if both Samsung and Apple get their way.. They'll both be out of the US market... Oh the irony! Probably why every other smartphone maker out there is staying out of it. wink.gif

While the apple hate is indeed quite unsightly at times, I can't help but side with Samsung on this. I won't say apple should "die", "burn", or anything of the sort. I just hope they can somehow be converted from their patent-trolling ways, and that this opportunity might be one that contributes towards this goal.
I refuted him saying that they exploit Chinese workers. And I kept it simple for avoiding taxes. Everyone does do it so why should anyone expect Apple to do otherwise? I don't see anything wrong with it. They're making use of legal loop holes which save them money and consequently bolster the company. That's their only concern.

iOS is utter crap, moreso w/o a jailbreak.
That's your opinion. I think iOS 5 is great, and iOS 6 is fantastic. And I have used the Nexus 7 too so I've had a comparison against the latest version of Android.

Yes, the F700.
The F700 doesn't look like the iPhone. All that's similar is that it's black and is a rectangle shape. EDIT: Was thinking of the LG Prada when I wrote this, not the F700.

iPad was just a copy of the tablet pc invented in 2002 with ios, iMac is just another AIO, and MacOS isn;t optimized.
Not quite. If it was just a copy then it would've run OS X. There were ARM based tablets running custom OSes back then, but none of them were successful. With the iPad Apple got the design, hardware and software all right -- they didn't try too early and they didn't leave it too late.

iMac is a great all-in-one. I've had a look at a lot of all-in-one's (online) and none of them compare to the iMac. And what? Of course Mac OS X is optimized.

Apple has directed the market though. For thin laptops, for smartphones, for tablets (which they practically made), and now they're directing the market towards high resolution displays.

You say not really, but provide absolutely nothing to refute his argument.

How many tablets were steering the 'booming' market before Apple released the iPad? None, because the iPad started that revolution.

How many people were clammering for a slimmer laptop before Apple released the Air? Apparently none, since Acer tried in the mid 2000's and found it to be unprofitable and pulled out.

What other company really made a push for post 1080p resolutions? None, whilst these monitors have been around for years, no one has every really done a hard marketing scheme to make these resolutions mainstream, other than Apple.

I can understand that a lot of people are unhappy with Apple and their 'bully' like behaviour in the patent department, but how can anyone logically refute any of the above?
