just give me an awesome iphone 5 before they get banned... I despise apple, but the sg3 just doesn't do it for me. Give me something that is as sexy as an iphone and I will switch. I haven't carried a big hunk of plastic around since my nokia days and don't intend to go back anytime soon.

Assembly... Apple doesn't do it Foxxcon does it.
Customer support i have no clue where Samsungs customer support is based.

Again your reading comprehension fails. This is what I was responding to:

There was Apple in that statement? This poster's statement was that US companies are doing something wrong if their products cost more in comparison with other companies. No Apple, no Foxconn, just you trying to add in stuff that was not there. Your 2nd point shows even greater lacking of reading comprehension. Where did I ever say Apple had never outsourced? My comment clearly stated that a company based in the US cannot compete with Foxconn (prime example of cheap labor) due to the lack of cheap labor force available to them. ALL BIG COMPANIES outsource to compete.

For those who are saying apple is a US company...last time I checked, around 90%+ of every device they produce is either out sourced or bought and then assembled abroad rolleyes.gif . Sure the design team is based in the US but that hardly makes up for the entire company...

Its not like apple are creating 1000's of new jobs for US workers either with all the vast sums of money they have accumulated as it mostly gets sunk back into china south Korea etc or for securing obscure and pointless patents...

The Google Nexus phone looks pretty sweet! all screen control buttons are software driven and customizable. I have the HTC Sensation and its pretty sexy. HTC releases some pretty nice devices but they are killing Android with their Sense UI.

I think where they're getting at is it's a US company, meaning it's home is here so any money made is taxed which helps our government in the end game. That is, if every large company didn't abuse offshore accounts to not be taxed. Whereas Samsung's home is Korea, the money they make doesn't do anything for us, other than get them to make more products.

1) Apple is a US company and Samsung is not. Them winning is good for all US companies as it shows that we are serious about protecting our innovations. You may disagree with the facts but the overarching impact is that innovation will be more secure and that is a good thing as American companies MUST innovate to compete with low-cost competitors overseas. If companies like Samsung think they can simply copy within a few months a product line from an American company, then all US companies are in trouble.
2) Apple products are underpowered for the price. They always have been. Most people will still buy them because Apple products ARE STABLE and EASY TO USE. I have to troubleshoot my PC, android tablet, and Android phone at least a few times a month. Apple devices do not have those kinds of issues for better or worse. For the vast majority of people who use tech casually, the stability and ease of apple products make them superior.
3) I don't see how you can say Apple doesn't innovate. The tablet market is now bigger than the PC market in terms of unit sales. Why is that? Because Steve Jobs saw a niche in the consumption of media and use of the internet that was being unfilled and delivered a compelling device at a good pricepoint. The ipod may have been just another mp3 player but the Iphone and the Ipad were the first "good" devices of their kind.
Don't own Apple products anymore, I am just too much of a power user but I can understand their appeal and their innovative value. I think the main thing to be learned from the patent wars is that our patent system needs a fundamental overhaul to prevent this kind of insane litigousness. A more flexible patent system with regard to fast-moving fields (like cellular tech) would be ideal; something like having a patent last 2-3 years. Enough to pay for innovation and then some while making litigation much less profitable and feasible.

Bravo sir! Bravo! That has to be the most cogent and objective post I've read yet.

I find the utter vitriol to which people are taking towards Apple to be disturbing. It certainly is not in keeping in line with OCN's professionalism initive mad.gif

Hey Fuell. I'm sure you're a nice guy, as am I. I have to be completely honest here though... I find nothing funny about crashing planes into buildings, and certainly don't wish to be associated with it.
