6950 + HDMI - how to set up w/ TV?

Thread Starter
I've got a Sony Bravia 720p TV set with 1080p input capability.

I want to use it as my display monitor for watching movies and such; what's the way to do this? Using catalyst 12.8s, by the way.

If you have an HDMI cable, just plug it into the back of your TV and then into yout graphics card. I think most if not all 6950s have HDMI.

It is easiest to use one display at a time if you don't mind unpluging your monitor. It avoids frusteration caused if you mess up one of the eyefinity options.

Then just turn your pc on and open catalyst and go advanced options. Click the tabs in red boxes on the left of the pics below to navigate to the page. Then just follow the instructions in the pics.

Ok, I got this working fairly well, but the 0% overscan pushes the edges off the screen. I am rebooting now to see if the Catalyst drivers will properly re-set the image.

(EDIT: nope. I'll try manually fiddling with the overscan settings now.)

Most 720p TVs are usually running a different resolution, something like 1366x768 check your owners manual then adjust catalyst settings accordingly.

Another annoying thing: Switching back to my 23" monitor causes the Catalysts to "remember" the settings for my 32" TV.

EDIT:

never mind, I have it all sorted out now smile.gif

Thanks, take some rep smile.gif

One last question - I've noticed in the Catalysts there's a pixel format thing. Is there an easy way to look up the best setting for my TV set? (EDIT: Googling is surprisingly sparse. The manual does not tell me what color space to specify for the TV set on HDMI)
