Concept is far from new. I suppose it's news due to intel fiddling with idea of recommending to mainstream enterprise solutions.
SSDs in a server environment, at least in data warehousing -impractical. Sealing could be done incorrectly with HDDs and your precious cloud storage, lost. Leaking conductive materials- not so great.
Seems analogous to nuclear power plants; in theory great but due to human error and other unforeseen issues, ineffective.
Negative things to say about nuclear power? Beyond foul blasphemer!

Oil computers have been around forever (hardcore moders), idk why people think this idea is new. You can use vegetable oil too, but you have to change your computer oil every 6 months because it spoils. And cleaning the oil off is a huge mess.

i've seen a number of oiled cooled rigs before.

I don't understand the appeal, though. They're ridiculously heavy, incredibly difficult to maintain and clean, and expensive to buy all the oil.

Seems completely, utterly impractical to me.

Cheaper than water cooling, and better performance than air cooling.

well there will always be dust on competent when you submerge it on oil so I think it can cause potential problem after a while when the oil become filled with impurity

Seems completely, utterly impractical to me.

If it's sealed properly, it shouldn't need any maintenance or cleaning.

Not if you clean your parts first.

They should be dismantled and washed thoroughly before being submerged.

Way off topic: Considering the US is using nuclear technology from 50's and 60's in the majority of nuclear power plants, your premise to draw an analogy between nuclear tech and mineral oil is flawed. The current state of Generation 3+ reactors is far superior to plants in use now. Safer fuel that cant meltdown, wider attainability of fuel, isotope half-life in the 10's of years and the built in shut down function if it is damaged. That is the current state of nuclear tech and the only flaw in the entire thing is the EPA's refusal to issue permits.

Back on topic: This does seem a tad pointless, however, maybe Intel will develop a "plug and play" type server module. They may figure out a low cost way to mass manufacture sealed components. I'd like to see a nearly finished prototype.
