So far here are the +'s and -'s for each:
Dead Thrall +'s:
Dead Thrall -'s:
Atronach Thrall +'s
Atronach Thrall -'s
Both types of thrall have a lot of versatility to them, however, atronachs are usually less tanky (unless you enchant the dead thralls armor, they lose the 100 health perk) and dead thralls deal less damage, so it seems to me which you use depends on your character. I have 2 master level conjurers. 1 is a squishy caster with illusion conjuration and destruction. The other is a vigil of stendor paladin type character, with Heavy armor, 1 handed weapons, shields, restoration, alteration, and conjuration.
On my paladin I use 2 storm atronach thralls. This is because they output a reliable ammount of constant damage and very few enemies have electrical resistances (Most notably dragons, who have high frost or fire resistances). Paired with my tanky healer capabilities this provides quite an unstoppable crew.
On my caster I took 2 dead thralls, 1 is orchendor because he has insanely high magic resistances, he litterally takes no damage from me. The other is the orc chief from the malacath quest, forget his name. He is only level 20 (max for him) but he has over 1200 health without the perk, which is kind of rediculous, and allows me to enchant his gear with magic resistances, making him even more of a tank in his heavy armor. Add an absorbtion weapon to him and he is literally unkillable. This ensures that neither of them die and allow me to wail on my enemies freely with fury spells and thunderstorm without worrying about them dying to some master vampire or frost dragon.
Now, tell me what you guys have and what you think on the subject. I want to know any other neat combinations you may have come to think of.
Dead Thrall +'s:
- Can be used as a "Ifinite" carrying case by depositing items into them before raising them.
- Can be used to spawn strong items or armor by leaving and entering areas after completely looting them
- Can have a lot of versatility
- Can have items enchanted for them to improve them in some way
- Can be equipped with powerful weapons with much ease
- Tankier than atronachs
- Racial Perk passives work (fire resistance for dunmer, frost for nord, etc)
- Can be glitched to change types (Novice ice mage -> Firemancer)
Dead Thrall -'s:
- Make a dumbfounded sound.
- Can easily get lost (losing tons of loot you may need off of them before bidding them good day)
- Not Easily Replaced (Especially past level 40 [50 with the necromage perk])
- Lower Damage than atronachs
- Can be glitched to change types (Firemancer -> Novice ice mage)
Atronach Thrall +'s
- Deal more damage than dead thralls
- Easily Replaced
- More reliable (dont get lost as often)
- Dont make stupid moans all day
- No time searching for them or managing inordinant ammounts of loot
Atronach Thrall -'s
- Cant carry loot
- Dont heal themselves (some dead thralls do; IE: vampires, some casters, etc)
- Can wear really nice armor, just have a flat skill curve that doesnt change.
- Storm and Frost atronachs get stuck in doorways all the time.
